All right, now this is a band, I would consider a one hit wonder. One hit wonder.
When we say one hit wonder, we mean a band that had one big hit song.
And this was it. The song is called Golden Earing.
Bendiente de oro. Golden Earing, no? Golden Earing, right?
But the band, sorry, the band, rather, pardon me, the band is called Golden Earing, excuse me.
The song is called Radar Love. Radar Love, and this is a Dutch band. They're from Holland.
They're from the Hegelaya. In Holland, founded in 1961, they originally called the tornadoes,
which is probably a better name for a band, to be honest. But they achieved worldwide fame
with this hit song Radar Love in 1973. It went to number one on the Dutch charts
and reached top 10 in the UK, number 13 in the US. So they had a big hit with this one.
And Golden Earing, yeah, they were founded in 1961.
And into the past the year 2000, they were still playing with the same lineup they did in 1970
and doing about 100 shows or more than 100 shows a year in Holland, Belgium and Germany.
So they kept going. They never really stopped, at least into the 2000s.
And like many of their songs, this song began with the title and kind of grew from there.
It was just going to be an album track. But it turned out to be a single,
the big single from their debut album called Moon Tan. Then they were able to cut it down.
It was, they had very long songs, but they were able to cut it down to become a radio single.
And it become just a huge iconic hit for them. And it's considered a very clever arrangement.
The tempo, about 100 beats per minute, very clever arrangement.
The intro is on the beat of each bar at the start.
And then there's sort of a shuffle rhythm. So you can hear there's a lot of changing beats going on.
And there's a lot happening musically. It speeds up. It slows down.
Kind of a fun song gets into a lot of different parts.
Like let's listen to this part for a second, Debbie.
And then he goes back and it kind of repeats. But it's just a cool song.
It's sort of, I can imagine this coming out of a kind of a jam session.
It seems like they're improvising a little bit, but obviously it's very orchestrated and very tight.
But the thing I wanted to say about this band is that before I came to Spain,
I used to live for six months. I lived in Holland in the Hegelaya, in the city that these guys are from.
And I went to see, while I was there, the Rolling Stones came to Holland.
The Rolling Stones were on tour. And I went to the show. I got to see the Rolling Stones and standing next to me in the concert,
just in the crowd was the guitar player from the Golden Earing.
I just started talking to this random guy. We were waiting for the band and we started talking.
And he said, well, I was in a band myself. I was the guitarist from the Golden Earing.
And at the time I didn't know who that was. But I had to, he said, we had a huge hit.
The big number one hit, Radar Love. And I knew the song, but I didn't know the name of the band.
I think a lot of people would know. So this was a big hit song, but not necessarily a household band,
but a good one to check out. So the album is called Muntan. So imagine a suntan.
If you get burnt by the sun, Camadura del Sol. So instead of a suntan, it's a Muntan, one word.
That's the name of this album by the band Golden Earing.
Sometime in some periods known as the Golden Earing or another periods known as simply Golden Earing.
Right? Pendiente de Oro.
And the song Radar Love. Radar Love.
Anyway, anyway, that's all I have to say about that one today, but a good tune, a fun track.
And speaking of fun, I love this part of the show. I'm talking about our expression of the day.

So the way this works, well, I'm going to explain an expression. Yes, that. Let's learn an expression together, everybody.

Now, pinch can be like una pizca.

We have a problem.
So it means in an emergency or a difficult situation,
maybe resources are limited,
and it implies finding a way to manage or adapt
when circumstances are not good.
Now, the expression is believed to originate
from the idea of physical pressure or being pinched in a tight spot.
Now, this is a very old expression.
This expression goes back over 400 years,
describing moments of need or urgency,
metaphorically related to the feeling of being squeezed.
Imagine, oh, he squeezed me, en una prieto,

You could say, you know, this is a sort of idea,
but to be in a pinch, we're out of eggs.
