The festivities kicked off Thursday with a candlelight vigil at Club Crucial on Hollowell Avenue. Shady members say the idea stemmed from how Shady Low loved to party big for his birthday, turning one day into a full week of events. It's all about uniting the community through music and memories. Shady Low helped shape Atlanta's sound as a founding member of the group D4L. Their hit Lafay Taffy topped the Billboard Hot 100 back in, 2005, sparking a whole movement in snap music. He passed away in a car crash in 2016, but his role in bringing neighborhoods together endures. This week includes more gatherings to spotlight his solo work and mentorship of younger artists.
