Donn Landee, Van Halen's Engineer, Passes Away

He kicked off his career engineering the doors waiting for the sun. Then joined Warner Brothers in 1971 as a staff engineer, teaming. Up with producer Ted Templeman on hits from the Dubie Brothers, Little Feet, and Van Morrison. That partnership extended to Montrose's first two albums featuring a young Sammy Hagar on vocals. And the raw sound there caught Van Halen's ear. Leading them to pick Templeman and Landy for their 1978 debut.
