Does Water Baptism Save Part 1

And then it clearly says and means that if you want to be saved, you need to both believe

and be baptized.

If you want to be saved, you need to both believe and be baptized.

And this is a controversial subject, right?

And many really have not been settled on.

Does water baptism save or does it not save?

Does it have a part in my salvation?

And we're going to look at that.

I want to say thank you, first of all, to all of us.

Thank you very much.

Thank you very much.

My goal in these videos, these devotions, is to really expose, to expound, and then also

to explain the scripture in this proper context that is intended and the intent that is written.

So you have to always keep that in mind.

My disappointment, honestly, is in so many YouTubers, I have been studying on this and watching

others that they take the scriptures and they twist it.

As a secondary authority, placing a church tradition or some other written documentaries on the subjects

and they use them as their authoritative source and then scripture as the second source.

And they are hung up on the Soluscriptura where the scripture is not enough.

So you have to add the other writings of men and traditions passed down from generations

and so on and so forth.

Listen, scripture is absolutely enough because Jesus said that man cannot live by bread alone,

but by every word that preceded it out of the mouth of God, Paul told Timothy all scriptures,

given by the inspiration of God as profitable for doctrine, for reproof or correction,

and instruction or righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished,

all right, all the way under good works.

The scripture is what we need and not to put anything above the authority of scripture.

And so certainly we are to study.

And we are to understand the scripture.

Paul mentioned to Timothy that there are those that have a form of godliness,

but deny the power thereof, and I say, and then he says, Timothy, there are those,

and the second, Timothy, three, seven, there are those that are ever learning and never able to come

into the knowledge of the truth.

And I believe that you have Joe Hashmire, Trent Horn, Mike Smith, and others that are teaching these things,

and telling these things, and I'm studying this person to this person and this historical content and so on and so forth,

but they have never come to the very simple truth of God's Word,

and I'm afraid so many are relying on catechisms in church doctrine and dogma,

and that the simple truth of the scripture, which can be well seen, is not seen,

and we can see it when we compare scripture with scripture.

Now you can probably say, for each of you, you're pretty hyped up on this.

Yes, I am, because not only is it wrong, not only is it false,

but is leading others away from the very simple truth of the gospel of Christ.

Now, I believe that through our study and through scripture,

that as Paul told Timothy to study to show thyself approved,

that we rely on the very Holy Spirit, and the very Word of God as a Holy Spirit illuminates to you and me,

his Word, his promise, in the timeline, in the maturity of every Christian,

and by the way, the reason why some have such a hard time understanding scripture is because they won't,

because Jesus said, or a scripture tells us that the natural man receive with not the things of the Spirit,

but they are foolishness under him, neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned, they are unable.

And so therefore, they scratch and pack and find all these other things to believe on,

which is outside of the context of scripture.

All right.

Now, Joel Heschmeyer, and I'm going to probably share several videos concerning him,

you just seen one, Joel Heschmeyer, he's from Shameless Poverty, YouTuber.

He is one of the leading individuals who emphatically says that baptism saves you,

and without being baptized, you cannot be saved.

Now, the problem is, he also says, later on in some of his other doctrine,

the doctrinal teachings, he's basically saying that, but we are not perfect either.

All right.

And therefore, you have to come to Mass and accept the communion, the body of Christ,

transubstantiation, the perpetratorial sacrifice of Christ in order to continue,

because you fall, you sinned, you have to come back and become perfect yet, but not perfect again.

So therefore, it's a, it's a teeter-totter Christianity life,

and it is not found or grounded in scripture at all.

I want to, I want to put several clips up in these devotions,

and then comment on them as we go through that.

All right.

Now, unfortunately, like if you're in my church, you'll understand this doctrinal truth,

because I have preached it in my church.

I am shared with them in Sunday School, and then also in the main services,

what baptism is, what it portrays, and even the work of the Holy Spirit.

We're going to get into that.

That is, promise in Acts chapter one, fulfilled in Acts chapter number two.

Now, these devotions, I don't want you to cut me off,

so please don't cut me off, or you'll not understand it, you'll not get the full aspect

of all of this, this powerful doctrine that seems to be a controversy.

All right.

These will not be very short.

It will take several episodes, as we go through this,

to uncover the fallacy of the Catholic doctrine of those that would believe,

not just the Catholic, but those that also believe,

but the Roman Catholic Church is the one that really has pressed upon this,

and we want to spread the truth of God's table right before us, all right.

And my goal, all right, let me just say this.

My goal was never to diminish anyone, to bring a fan, to be a rude to anyone,

but Paul said in Romans chapter 16 of verse number 17,

to mark them which caused divisions among you.

So therefore, as a child of God,

and when there's false doctrine being spread around,

it is my responsibility to mark them, to highlight them, to name them.

There are several verses that are used to develop the thought that baptism saves, all right.

That baptism saves you.

And let me put these up on the screen.

I'm going to read them one after the other, and they're just going to,

they're going to change for you.

You don't need a flip of page or anything like that,

but if you're listening to this on the podcast, I'm sorry,

but I'm going to tell them to you, all right.

If you're driving and watching these emotions,

please do not look at the screen, all right.

Keep your eyes on the road.

All right.

Here's some of the verses that are used to defend the belief that baptism does save.

All right.

Mark 16, 16.

Here's your first one.

Let me pop it up.

Mark 16, 16 says,

he that, believe it and his baptized,

shall be saved.

But he that, believe it, not shall be damned.

Mark 4, excuse me,

Mark 1, chapter number 4 says,

John did baptize in the wilderness

and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

All right.

Here's another one.

Acts 238.

Then Peter said unto them,

repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ

for the remission of sins that you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Now, that one, you have to understand the context,

the timeline, and what has just taken place in order to know what that verse means.

Here's another two verses that we find in 1 Peter chapter number 3 and

verses number 20 and 21, which sometimes were obedient.

This will be, excuse me, which, let me start over, which sometimes were disobedient.

When once the long suffering of God weighed in in the days of Noah,

while the ark was a preparing,

wherein few, that is, eight souls, were saved by water.

The light figure we're unto, even baptism,

does also now save us.

Not putting away the filth of the flesh,

but the answer of a good conscience towards God

by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Now, in that verse, we're going to get into it later,

but let me just tell you this,

the water didn't save Noah.

The water never saved Noah.

The water destroyed men.

It was a destructive component when you look in Scripture,

what saved Noah?

Number one was his obedience, and number two was the ark.

That's what saved Noah.

I'll explain this first to you as we go through these devotions and may last a year.

I don't know.

All right, let me tell you this.

There are some of the main verses, these were some of the main verses that are being used,

really, to define that baptism saves.

These are their foundational verses,

and they don't go into context.

They don't use the understanding of the full atmosphere of what's being said.

They just take the verses out, and there you have it.

Baptism saves.

All right?

When they do that, they disregard the very sacrifice on Calvary as the finished work of Christ,

and now they're adding that we must be baptized in order to complete the salvation,

or to become more perfect in salvation.

Hesmeyer, along with others, say that when Christ settled across it is finished,

that he didn't mean, all right?

He didn't mean that sin was paid for.

He didn't mean that his death wasn't the complete atonement,

but only in partiality, only to be repeated in the communion or the Eucharist

by that imprituatory sacrifice.

But they mention that, what Jesus said, it is finished,

they say, well, it meant that Christ said that he is fulfilling the Scripture,

completing the Scripture.

No, I can't argue with that at all.

I can't argue with that, but they don't say what Scripture.

Now, if you look at what Scripture Christ fulfilled,

and when he said it is finished, he fulfilled what the Scriptures said or prophesied in Isaiah,

chapter 53, Psalm, chapter 22, or Genesis chapter 22.

These Scriptures are talking about the very sacrifice in the crucifixion of Christ

for our sins in totality, in completion, all right?

So, if you say he had its finish and say, well, he's just fulfilling the Scripture,

but he's not just fulfilling the Scripture, he's fulfilling what the Scripture says

as a very act of our atonement, as a very propituary act of God,

that once for all is now finished and he sits on the right hand of the Throne of God.

What was the sacrifice for man's sin?

What was the redemption of their souls, right?

It was a blood atonement that was required, and Christ did that.

Don't wish my air is blinded, contradictory, and just, he's not just in left field, folks,

but he's out in the parking lot of the ballpark, all right?

Mike Smith and Jimmy Ackins and Trent Horn and these other men are talking

or taking the simplicity of the gospel and intertwining it with us having to have some involvement in order to be saved.

And not just to be saved, but to keep safe.

And again, it's not just belief, baptism, but now it's the constant having to receive the communion

as that propituary atonement or propituary sacrifice that God has to be sacrifice, sacrifice, sacrifice,

every time you come to mass in order to become perfect once again because throughout the week,

I mean, hey, we all sin, so therefore we have to come and accept the sacrifice once again,

and therefore we are okay until we walk out the doors and sin again within the first hour.

That's wrongful doctrine, wrongful belief, and it's a contradictory to God's word and what Christ did on the cross.

Now, I don't mean to be rude, I don't mean to be offensive or accusative, but I am just practicing scripture, all right?

Romans 16 verses 17 and 18, as I mentioned, Paul said, now I beseech you, brethren, Mark them which caused a vision and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned and avoid them.

For they are such, for they that are such serve not the Lord Jesus Christ, but their own bellies.

And by good works and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

This is exactly what's going on when you take God's word and twist it and contort it and rearrange it and just throw it up in the air and not use it as the authority.

Then what you're doing is you're teaching falsehood, you're teaching that which is contrary to the doctrine of God and deceiving those that are, well, Paul said, they're simple.

In other words, they're innocent. They might not have the understanding and knowledge of scripture.

And so therefore what you're doing is you're teaching them wrongfully.

And what happens is the same thing, but Paul told the church in Colossi that there were those that were coming in false teachers coming in and he said in Colossians chapter 2 verse number 8.

Beware less than he man's spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit after the tradition of men after the rudiments of the world and not after Christ.

Now, I'm not going to talk about the tradition because in that tradition, it means passed down from one man to another.

But however when Paul talks about tradition, he's talking about the teachings, the very doctrines by which Christ talked them, they are to teach others.

These traditions are man-made traditions, man-made religion.

And he says that they will spoil you or take you away or captivate you, lead you away and prison you with wrongful doctrine.

Now, the question is then does baptism have a part in salvation or does baptism itself complete salvation apart from just believing in the Lord Jesus Christ by faith alone in order to answer that question.

We have to look at several scriptures and in so many cases, we will find that there is an interruptive of the theology of those that are mentioned before.

And we need to find out exactly what Christ is speaking of, especially when it comes to what Mark mentioned in Mark chapter 16 and verse number 15.

Now, during the discourse, after Christ had risen from the dead, right, there are those that would not believe in the very resurrection, they were hard of heart, they were heart of heart.

They were not believing what they were seeing.

And Christ had mentioned to that that they were hard in their heart and willing to believe what was mentioned then in Mark chapter 16 and verse number 14, then he tells them in Mark 16 verse 15 to go and preach the gospel to every creature.

Every individual, every person and there to preach the gospel.

Well, why? Well, because Paul defines the gospel in first Corinthians, but what Paul said in Romans chapter 1 and verse 16, he says, I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ.

For it is the power of God and the salvation to everyone that believe it to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Now, let me ask you this is a baptism found in there. No.

Did Jesus say to go into all the world and preach the gospel and then also baptize them in order to be saved.

Now, we will look at Acts chapter 1, verse number 8 and others in Matthew chapter 19.

And so we'll look at those as well because baptisms in there, but it's Christ telling them to be back in order to be saved. They have to be baptized.

Now, the gospel, which is defined as the death bearing resurrection of Christ, is that which must be believed on in order to take place for salvation.

Because in Romans chapter 10, verse 9 through 11, let me put it up.

It says here that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth, the Lord Jesus and shall believe in thy heart that God has raised him from the dead, get it thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart may and believe with under righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

The scripture say it, whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Now, according to the apostle Paul, baptism is not playing any role in salvation.

Salvation by Paul's standard hinges upon the belief of the heart, true belief, a repentant belief that comes from the very conviction of the Holy Spirit exposing our need for the Savior.

This is what Christ has told the disciples to do.

Preach what I have accomplished.

Preach it to all and preach it to every individual proclaim my work of the cross and the fulfillment of scriptures for man's sin.

Christ made the statement in Mark 16, 16.

He that believe within his baptized shall be saved, but he that believe it's not shall be damned.

Now, I'm going to leave you with that.

We're going to pick up right there on our next episode on what does that mean because is Mark contradicting Paul because Mark says by the words of Christ.

So Jesus is saying this, he that believe within his baptized shall be saved.

No, even if Paul just said that if you believe in that heart, thou shall be saved.

Who's right? Who's wrong?

Is scripture contradicting itself?
