UK News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now! — DLR Upgrades: New Trains, Better Service. Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
On April 30, most of the Docklands Light Railway Network shuts down this bank holiday weekend for testing new trains. Transport for London confirms no service runs between bank and Shadwell, popular and vectin, or strafford international, and Woolwich Arsenal from. Saturday, May 2, through Monday, May 4. Only a couple routes stay open for passengers. Tower gateways are popular, and Louisham, to both strafford and Shadwell. These shiny new trains feature walk-through carriages, air conditioning, and real-time travel updates to make rides smoother. The fleet of 54 trains rolled out last October, but got pulled after a breaking glitch in bad weather at Canningtown a month later. TFL mapped out these closures back in February, eyeing a full return by late summer. Customers are hyped for the upgrades like extra space and better accessibility, and officials say engineers have been grinding with partners to fix. Everything safely. They're using the quiet three-day weekend drop-in riders to test thoroughly.
On top of that, third-party upgrades hit the tracks too, so expect the DLR back stronger once summer rolls in.
