DHS Purchasing Electric Shock Gloves For ICE Agents To Subdue Suspects

The Department of Homeland Security is planning to spend up to $20 million to purchase a new tool for ICE agents: electric shock gloves. “G.L.O.V.E” stands for “generated low output voltage emitter” and they deliver painful electric shocks used to “gain compliance” from a suspect within three seconds. The pain is described as being similar to a bee sting and proponents hope it could prevent some of the recent shooting deaths we’ve seen between ICE agents and immigrants.  Those opposed question whether ICE agents can be trusted with these gloves, and could be a recipe for more harm to the public.
