Devon & Cornwall Teams Triumph at Police Dog Trials

0:00On March 3rd, this past weekend, Avon and Somerset Police hosted the regional police dog trials for 2026 at their headquarters. Handlers and dogs from forces across the southwest and Wales took part, facing off in tracking, venue searching, and obedience challenges. Judges noted the outstanding quality of performance is overall, which stood out even more since many teams were competing for the first time. Competitors from Devon and Cornwall, Avon and Somerset dorset and South Wales. Earned plenty of respect for their sharp skills and teamwork. Devon and Cornwall team shone brightest, with Noah Tilley and PD Gus topping tracking, while John Warren and his giant schnauzer PD Albert swept. Obedience and grabbed the overall title. Avon and Somerset's Harry Sims and PD Fonzo led venue searching. PD Albert made history as the first giant schnauzer to win these trials, and along with four other qualifiers, he'll head to the national. Championships in May, at Westructure Police.
