0:00Ready for a lap? It's time for Derek's days on 880J from the core deep to the downright ridiculous. We're counting down the fun events and bizarre holidays happening today. You won't believe what people are celebrating. So you won't believe what some people are celebrating this week. I've taken a close look at the list that's coming down and there's some head scratchers in there. But then there are some that make complete sense like today, Derek. Yeah, absolutely. And a movie that I've seen probably close to 15 times. Wow. I love this movie. It's National Barbie Day today. Not bad at all. Yeah, I love that movie in theater and my daughter is just of that age right now. Yeah. Where she's starting to assemble an apostee. Oh, really? Barbies, right? And it's not necessarily Barbie brand. Yeah. But as far as she's concerned, every doll, she actually refers to them as Garbies. As Garbies, that's cute. That's cute. Yeah, she hasn't quite mastered the word Barbie. Okay. Do you know what the most expensive Barbie I ever auctioned off is?

1:02Let's say like $125,000. There was one that was designed by Australian jeweler Stefano Cantouri and featured a one-carat rare Australian pink diamond center stone, a choker of white diamonds, and a sleek black evening dress that back in 2010 went for $300,000. Oh my gosh. Oh. The most recent Barbie, or sorry, the most recent Garbie that purchased for my daughter was $1.50. Boy, little bit easier to handle. I was going to ask did someone buy this? Yeah. Yes, that's how auctions work. Like, someone had enough money. Oh my gosh. Oh, you're going to hate what I'm going to tell you after this next day. What happens on Tuesday? I was going to ask do you know Barbie's real name? Throw it out there. Oh, Barbara and something. Barbara Handler. Yep, yep. The creator Ruth Handler, her daughter's name was Barbara. So she became Barbie. Mm-hmm. Tuesday, yes. International day of awesomeness. Everything is awesome.

2:02Everything is awesome. It's actually cool when you're part of a team. Isn't that so? That's a great song. We used to play that all the time. What song? Yeah. Maybe we'll play it again. Yeah. They say be confident, spread positivity, and make everyday stuff great. All right. Let's do this. Tuesday. So I can really get, again, really less blood boiling. Well, it is Mario Day. Oh. Exactly. So essentially, M-A-R for March. Mar-10. Mario, March 10. Oh, there you go. There you go. Any guesses on what the most expensive video game for Mario has ever been? What the most expensive at auction is, Leila. How much money do you think you would pay for a video game starring Mario the plumber? 20. 21. Dollars? Yeah, $20. Oh, my God. Is it more expensive? I'm going to say $35 million. OK. Why? A sealed copy of Super Mario from 1985 on the original NES is the most expensive video game ever sold.

3:02It fetched in August of 2021. It was, by the way, it was rated at 9.8 out of 10 in terms of its condition. OK. It sold for $2 million. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Can you can't even play it? Isn't that something? But can you imagine back in the day when you bought your original copy? Yeah. And just held on to an extra one? Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Maybe I'm so dramatic, but these things actually make me so mad because you could have donated that money to someone in need. Then you couldn't play Mario. He can't even play the Mario. And I'm assuming his gender grade. I don't know. They can't even play the Mario thing. Yeah. Not this one. By the way, there have been almost a billion copies of Mario games sold since he first hit the market back in the early days. Yeah. Oh, my goodness. And still releasing games. Yeah. To this day. Wow. Wednesday, that's going to be a world day of Muslim culture, peace, dialogue, and film days. Maybe check out a new culture and learn some new things. Lily teaches me things all the time, which I really enjoy.

4:02Do you know what the most expensive relapse is getting? The most expensive Muslim movie. Exactly. Well, it also happens to be National Oatmeal Nut Waffles Day on Wednesday. That's fantastic. No, I just learned that oatmeal nut waffles are a thing. I know. I can't say I've ever tried one of those before. I thought maybe it was just me, so I guess not. Hey, does Leila like oatmeal nut waffles? I think I would like it. Yeah. Oh, okay. There's a girl there. Courtney, you can make us. Yeah. Look at all that. That's right. Thursday, you might be able to pull this one together. It's popcorn lovers day. Actually, to be fair, I'm looking at both foods that you got on this. Yeah. I'm a fan of both of them. I'm fond of both of these and not trying to figure out a way to hybridize them. If I can put oatmeal nuts into an oatmeal and nuts into a waffle, there's got to be a way that I can make popcorns and scalloped potatoes work together. Yeah, baked scallops. That's the other day. I don't know how that would mix together, but scalloped potatoes.

5:04Yeah. Courtney. Yeah. But even still, I don't think that's going to be a very good mix. No. No. Friday, National Canine Veterans Day. So this is all the dogs that served and still serve. And let's send that out to our local canine police team as well. I just love reading the little stories that the doggies do on Instagram and stuff like that. When I was in TV, whenever they'd have the training day at the north side there, I'd always make sure that I got that story. Oh. So I could go out and shoot and play with the good boys and good girls. I've always wanted to see that. It looks so cool. Well, we did it at the top. You know, I guess we got to do it for him too. It was Barbie Day. So Friday is going to be Ken Day. Oh, why does he get a day? Every day is International Ken Day. I know, right. Well, he's just Ken. Yeah. That's Ken, as he would say. Saturday. Now, did you have one of these when you were younger, Courtney? It's International Fanny Pack Day. Oh, everyone had one of them. Didn't we? I was younger. Yeah, I did too. I was too around, but just maybe not in the same way that they were back in the, you know, 90s there. Do you remember yours? Did you have like a fancy design or anything?

6:05Oh, no, no, no. Mine was, I think mine was like bright neon blue and yellow. Oh, man. Right. Right, a Simpsons one that I was quite proud of. Also blue and yellow. Quick question. Yeah. Do you know what the most expensive Fanny Pack of all time is? What? I didn't pull this up by the way. Let's say $52. Layla? I have a hundred. You can get a Louis Vuitton Fanny Pack for $4,000. Oh, my God. Oh, well. I'll get it tomorrow. Oh, he said that's right. Oh, yeah. That's fine. That's a good waste of money. No. Yeah. Yeah. Because I do have the money. Yeah. God. Courtney. Now, let's throw this one out really quickly. And I'll tell you the question first. So first of all, we're going to ask you for a true confession. You guys can think of one. So now my true confession. Something that I probably wouldn't normally save. Now, I love watching my oilers. But sometimes I think I'd rather play video games or like watch Netflix. But I don't. I still watch the game all the time. That's my confession. Okay. My confession is I love both of my children equally. I know that's not an easy thing. That's not an easy thing for most parents.

7:06But there it is. Okay. Leila. I love hanging out with my friends. But sometimes I just want to stay at home and do nothing. Oh, yeah. Oh, that's a lot. I love you guys. I developed a new strategy, which is that basically whenever I go, I want to make plans, I just go ahead and I don't make them so they don't have to cancel them later. That's smart. That's smart.
