DePaul Secures Big East Win Over Marquette

0:00On March 2nd, DePaul grabbed a key big East win over Marquette 71-51 on Sunday in Milwaukee. The Blue Demons improved to 16-13 overall, 8-10 in conference play. Brandon McLean led the way with 18 points and 5 rebounds. DePaul seized control late in the first half, taking the lead with 6 minutes and 42 seconds left, then never looked back. They built a huge halftime edge at 32-14, thanks mostly to McLean's 15 first half points. Marquette fought back hard in the second half, outscoring DePaul by 7 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. MJ Benson stepped up big for the winners with 10 points and a whopping 16 rebounds, while Cruz McClure added 10 points on solid shooting from, deep in the line. For the Golden Eagles, now 10-19 overall, and 5-13 in the Big East, Nigel James Jr. topped the scoring with 14 points. To go with 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 blocks. Chase Ross shipped in 12 points and 3 steals.
