Dentist Killed After Knife Attack, Standoff

He allegedly attacked two women he did not know with a knife inside the pot's point complex on Tuesday morning. Both women suffered serious head and face injuries, but are now stable. Officers arrived quickly after the assault and tried using a taser on Lynn, but it did not work. He then threatened them with the knife, leading to the single gunshot that killed him at the scene. Witnesses nearby heard the women calling for help before police ordered him to drop the weapon. Lynn founded a central coast dentistry group and wrote books on the topic, but he stepped away last year. His family shared that after splitting from his wife in 2024, he struggled with methamphetamine use. He also faced multiple domestic violence charges, including assaults and breaches of protection orders. The two victims went to St. Vincent's hospital right away. Lynn has already been released, while the other remains there in stable condition.
