Deeper Daily Podcast- March 12, 2026

0:00Hello my friends and welcome again to the deeper daily podcast. I'm Paul. It's the third, I'm sorry, it's the 12th day of March and we are on the other side of the middle of the week heading quickly towards the weekend. Check out concerning Jesus which is now available from last night's Bible study and it is a great time for us in Natasha and I. We are hosting our son as he's on a spring break got a few days off and came down from Nashville to spend some time with with his mom and pop and so we're glad to have him and Nate and Lauren are coming in this weekend and going to go to church with us at the garden and so it's just a fun time and we are planning to take a few days off next week and go to Florida for some spring training baseball and some sun and some ocean and that ought to be an enjoyable time and because of that next week we will have our regular podcasts because I have a week ahead but

Today we are going to close the third chapter of First Desoloneans as we continue forward in Paul's first letter not only his first letter to the Thessalonians but his first letter at all we we don't have any evidence that Paul wrote anything earlier than this and he writes this one in response we talked about this yesterday he wrote this one in response to Timothy coming back after having visited them and it was all good news Timothy essentially comes back and says hey they're doing well and that they talk kindly about you they wish they could see you and he says so do I I wish I could see you I pray night and day I'll get to see you and help restore whatever's lacking in your faith that leads us to the eleventh verse now may our God and father himself and our Lord Jesus direct our way to you a couple things I want to show you one is that Paul's theology does separate God and father God the father and our Lord Jesus Christ I think that we get a little bit bogged down

3:09sometimes in our in our theological discussions about is Jesus God and then we'll have moments like this where we go oh well Paul didn't think so either there's God and then there's Jesus but then you have Jesus saying I and my father are one and how I land on this is that God there is one Lord one Lord one faith one baptism but our God came to earth in the form of a human and the relational aspect of how God describes himself to us is father and son so that we could be sons and then the relational aspect of how he remains with us is through the action of the Holy Spirit and so I I don't trip up on the saying God the father and the Lord Jesus and you have somebody who correct you go oh Jesus is God and I said okay I understand but also it's okay to differentiate so that we

4:16understand what we're talking about and Paul seems to do that he does that a lot during his ministry so that's my comments on why you have that distinction in that text but also I would say that it takes a while for this prayer to get answered the answer doesn't come until several years later and it happens in Acts chapter 20 in verse 1 after the uproar had ceased Paul sent for the disciples and after encouraging them and saying farewell he left for Macedonia now I don't read through verse after verse after verse but when he leaves for Macedonia Thessalonica is in Macedonia so Paul's journey back to the Thessalonian people isn't going to come until pretty late in the book of Acts if you want to see Paul's in Corinth Paul's in Antioch Paul's in Ephesus there's that big riot in Ephesus they've been in Berea they've been in prison there's

5:20been an uproar in Thessalonica and Paul goes there initially starts his church anyway he doesn't go back until chapter 20 that's years later so we don't know exactly when this was written and we've talked about that before and we don't know exactly when he went back we get good ideas but there's a gap between what Paul has to say in the 11th verse of 1st Thessalonians 3 and the fact that by Acts 20 verse 1 he gets to actually go back to the Thessalonians so you're praying for things that may not happen soon but we trust our Father who doesn't exist outside of time I don't want to let me say that better he does exist outside of time he transcends time he doesn't stand outside of it refusing to come inside of it so our Father knows no clock but he knows our clock so and having been human he has tasted all of those waitings that we have to taste so

6:22Paul first in a waiting mode eventually the prayer does come to pass verse 12 may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all just as we abound in love for you that's a really good prayer by the way to pray over anyone you care about listen to it again may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all just as we abound in love for you verse 13 and may he so strengthen your hearts in holiness that you may be blameless before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints and so Paul prays for the blamelessness and blameless we are in Christ but as we've talked about a few days ago we also want to walk in a way in which no blame can be assigned to us from the outside world because Jesus said they will see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven and I want the world to give God glory if the path to the stranger giving God

7:28glory is that Paul white does good works that causes God to get glory then I want to be the Paul white that does good works that causes God to get glory not Paul white does good works so God will take me to glory but because glory has come to me I want my good works to glorify my good Father may my actions shine positive light on the goodness of my Father and I think that's all of our prayers and it seems to be Paul's prayer for the Thessalonikans as well we will start the fourth chapter tomorrow and we'll see you then God bless
