Deeper Daily Podcast- March 11, 2026

0:00Hello my friends and welcome back to the DDP. It is the 11th day of March. It is the middle of the week. It is Bible study time here in Irmo, South Carolina. Tonight, Wednesday evening, we have our concerning Jesus series. And I'll give you a little update. Well, we're gonna take next week off because as I told you, we are traveling for a few days vacation time. So this will be the final one for a couple of weeks. So we won't have a midweek drop next week. I'll try to remind you that this is the concerning Jesus series. We're in the book of Isaiah right now looking at the Isaiah prophecies of Jesus. This is a loaded book. Jesus is everywhere. So much so that we started this little segment a couple weeks ago with a lesson called the fifth gospel because that's what the ancients used to call the book of Isaiah. But a little update on the little side project I've been working on putting the early lessons from this series into a book that I

1:00pretty sure I'm gonna call concerning Jesus. It's a book that focuses on rediscovering God through the lens of Jesus letting Christ become the central figure of how we read the Old Testament. I think it's gonna be a book. I'm trying to make it short, succinct, no fat, just straightforward. And I think so far I'm pulling that off. I'm in the second chapter as I record this and the book is outlined. It's mapped. That's the biggest part of writing a book to me is outlining and mapping it. Knowing where you're going. You can't just randomly start. And so there's a lot of work. You've got to hit milestones along the way. Pretty confident that we're at a point now where I can talk about this as something that is definitely going to happen. Because once you, to me, if you don't have that first chapter really locked in and the rest of the book outlined, it's probably best not to talk too much about writing it because I come up with a lot of ideas and I work on them and

2:01then they don't go anywhere and that's the way it is. That's how I feel like well it wasn't supposed to be. This one is still in me and it's still rolling and it's I got that old familiar feeling. So I'm working on concerning Jesus and I'll keep you posted and these lessons are helping inform it even after I'm passed where I'm where I'm writing about. The lessons we're doing now kind of help bring some new things out and bring some things into that book that didn't happen when we went through it. Life is not a transcript. I'm not talking about sitting down with the videos and just typing out a transcript of what I taught. No, no. It's it's using the outline we used but it's fleshing it out and written form. Letting it carry me into little different streams, moving some items around that might have appeared in one lesson that should have went into another and breaking it down into different chapter headings and so I'm very excited about it and I hope that you'll say a prayer for me as we can

This is where Timothy comes back. He's been sent by Paul to check on the Thesalonians and he and I I kind of like the think that this next verse is an indication that Paul does what say what I did yesterday. I opened the podcast and went oh I got something this morning. I got an email this morning that made me want to say the following and so I said it and I do imagine that Timothy gets back. Him and Paul sat down. They share. They break bread and Timothy starts to say here's what's going on with Thesalonians and Paul so excited. He grabs parchment. grabs his quill and

4:07pen and he just starts to write and because listen here's verse 6. But Timothy has just now come to us from you and has brought us the good news of your faith and love. He has told us also that you always remember us kindly and long to see us just as we long to see you. That's the sixth verse. Simple, straightforward. It's the sound of a guy who's excited to get good news and before it slips from his mind and heart he wants to send that good news right back to them. That leads us to verse 7. For this reason brothers and sisters during all our distress and persecution we have been encouraged about you through your faith. For we now live if you continue to stand firm in the Lord Paul Paul links his joy. He even links sort of his soulish prosperity to the prosperity of the Thesalonians. If they're walking in faith and they're in peace it brings life to him. And man I know this

5:08feeling. And this is the heart of a pastor or at least the heart of someone who has learned to love something outside of his or herself. And I think any parents going to know what I'm talking about here too. So you've got this other person whose joy and peace is your very life. I don't mean your heart would stop beating if they weren't at peace. But the very essence of your own peace happiness and stability are so inexorably linked to this other person that they you might as well say as Paul does and yes it's metaphor but that's okay. You might as well say my life I'm alive because of you. And I know that as a pastor we feel that way I feel that way. So many times when I feel the pain or the hurt of the people who've been put into our charge or who've come into contact with our life and ministry. We want to see them grow. We want to see them be a success. We want to see them happy. And at peace I want to see their faith. I don't mean their

6:12faith's got to be perfect. That doesn't exist. Or it's got to be on the upside of that roller coaster. No. But to see them struggling in it into working with it and walking through it. That is our life. And that's the part of the life of community as well. We live if you continue to stand for in verse nine. How can we thank God enough for you? And return for all the joy that we feel before our God because of you. Great question. Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you face to face and restore whatever is lacking in your faith. This one moves me. It's here's the way I say this. I've been praying for you every time I pray. And what I'm praying is I really want to get to see again. Oh God open the door. So we get to meet one more time. And when we're there, I hope that I can help with wherever it is. You're struggling. I want to give you a word that brings you up. Not brings you down. I want to

7:13encourage you, not discourage you. I want to help carry your burdens, not add to your burdens. True ministry is not meeting people and then adding to their burdens so that they now feel like they've got to do things for you. They owe you money. No, it's relieving them of burdens. And doing that very important thing, restoring whatever is lacking in their faith. And I pray that we're helping to do that for you right here at the DDP tomorrow. We'll close the third chapter. It's got a little connection in to the book of Acts in regards to the timing of some of the things Paul's doing and we'll look into that. And we'll see then. God bless.
