Deadly Fort Worth Robbery: Confessions and Arrests

0:00And Dallas today, March 20. In late January 2024, a robbery at a South Fort Worth apartment ended in tragedy when two men targeted a barber selling marijuana there. The suspects, Zaryan Evans and Zion Johnson, arrived pretending to buy half a pound for $800, but pulled guns on the barber, his, 65-year-old client, and the barber's uncle. The robbers searched the place, grabbing the drugs, a lock-hand gun, a wallet, and a phone, and forced everyone into the living room at gunpoint just. After 11 p.m., the 50-year-old uncle, Donald Smith, tried to fight back by firing at them, sparking a shootout that left him dead on the couch. The 39-year-old barber and his client were shot but survived their injuries. Police arrested Evans in February 2024 on Capitol murder charges after he admitted his role in the robbery. Last week, Johnson confessed to saying he had a gun, but didn't fire it, and he lost a shoe fleeing the scene.

1:00Both men are now in Taren County, jail. Evans with a $450,000 bond, and Johnson at $500,000, as detectives wrap up their investigation into the deadly home invasion.
