David Gilmour's Black Stratocaster Sells for $14M

0:00On March 14th, David Gilmore's black straddle-caster guitar just became the most expensive ever sold, fetching nearly 11 million pounds, or about 14 million $500,000 at a Christie's auction in New York. He played this instrument on Pink Floyd's classic albums, including The Dark Side of the Moon in 1973, Wish You Were Herein, 1975, Animals in 1977, and The Wall in 1979. Bitter's drove the price almost four times above, the expected nearly 3 million pounds, topping the previous record held by Kurt Cobain's Martin. Acoustic from his Nirvana MTV Unplugged Show, which sold for 4,500,000 pounds back in 2020. The guitar headlined a collection of music icons owned by the late billionaire Jim Erse, who passed away last May at age 65, other highlights. Included Cobain's Blue Fender Mustang for over 5 million pounds, and Beatles items like John Lennon's piano for 2,400,000 pounds.
