So this has already been a nutty show. The 7 o'clock segment hurts me to think about. Well, Daryl, you wanted to say something strong. You wanted to get off your chest. I'm going to turn my mic off. Go ahead and get off your off. The salary cap grows right now, taking victory laps on social media because they told the world the Browns could function in free agency like it's some epiphany that has been brought to the world. First of all, I never said that Andrew Berry couldn't do anything in free agency. I don't know that there was anyone on this particular radio station. Are they accusing you? No, just just in general, just talking about all you people that said Andrew Berry couldn't do anything in free agency. We told you so. Oh, okay, listen, you got a bunch of Ivy League degree guys running the Cleveland Browns right now. Okay, I'm not going to

2:08call them the football nerds, but okay, they're the football nerds and they're running the Browns. Of course, they're going to know how to do math. Of course, they're going to know how to do the salary cap. You don't think Andrew Berry figured out how to get out of the Dishon Watson contract. Listen, I've been as critical as anybody of Andrew Berry in some of the personnel decisions he's made and the draft picks he's made and he's part of the reason why Kevin's the fansky got fired, but he got to keep his own job. But never once have I questioned his ability to run the salary cap. Like, you know, this notion that everyone just assumes that the Browns can never do anything in the offseason because of the Dishon contract or being jammed up with the salary cap, they make that stuff disappear all the time. The New Orleans Saints are, they are part of the part in the Patron Saints of salary cap hell over the years. And every offseason, the Saints would find ways to clear the necessary space to do their business.

3:11Andrew Berry is no different. So just the salary cap rose and a lot of them do a great job breaking down the cap and the intricacies and all that. It's nothing personal, but just stop with the victory laps. Just just stop. You sound like you're saying nothing personal, but it sounds very personal. It sounds like you've taken some things personally. No, they're just they're unnecessary. Anyone that knows anything about the NFL knows that you can maneuver around the salary cap and do your business. Yeah, but I do think on the other side of that, like I one of the people saying the Browns couldn't do anything this offseason because their salary cap was jammed up. Darryl, you know me. I don't think the salary cap is real. I think it's it's my conspiracy theory. I just think it's something that they all say that's there, but I think really, I think it's an excuse to get rid of players and just have find cheaper labor for the for the owners. Yeah, so I mean, did not guarantee contracts or a gift to these owners. And I think when he comes to the guaranteed contract stuff, especially with all the news with, you know,

4:13JC Tredder getting the executive director position and what happened last year, why that's back in the news. I really think my point has been proven about the salary cap and what it is. Either way, I when I read though, I tend to side with the salary cap, bros. Let me tell you why. Let me tell you why. When I see like Greg Rosenthaus a good writer, I'm just using his latest example like this Browns cap hell and they can't do anything. I'm like, man, the reason the Browns can't do anything is because I don't care about the money. I'll care about the cap. They traded meaningful picks for a guy who's terrible. That's what that's why they're bad. They weren't able to replenish that they have chosen poorly in the draft before. To me, with the exception, every now and then, there's an exception to the rule. Tyler Lindobom got away from the Ravens, got paid an exceedingly large amount of money to do so. Sometimes you have to let go of a player that you really do want to

5:15keep. But to me, it's an excuse to get rid of players. And I always just find these teams. Oh my god, they're in cat somehow, some way, they always find a way to keep a guy. And I think that teams that are usually bad. It's because they've given away the most valuable assets. That's cheap draft choices because that's really what they are. You've given away cheap draft choices to replenish your football team for players that really didn't work out. To me, it's not, we're like, oh my gosh, how are they going to afford Patrick my home? They're going to afford them. It's going to happen. And it's going to happen for they were going to find a way to afford Chris Jones, whether it was going to sit in a box and watch. To me, there's a way. So when I read, oh my god, they can't afford to do this to that. I think that's overblown personally. And maybe the chickens will come home to roost. Maybe we will find ourselves in a situation like, I know Lyme has called it reckless to keep kicking contracts down the road and paying a million dollars up front and everything. But I just, there's always going to be a hit. There's a look, but I just don't

6:17think it's as crippling as we make it out to be. The only difference I see is like, okay, yeah, if you did trade Miles Garrett this year, we get it. Attention spans just aren't what they used to be. Heads and social media and eyes on Netflix. But what do people do with their ears? Well, for one, they're listening to audio. Americans spend 4.4 hours with audio every day. Oh, and you want the proof? Well, you just sat through this ad that's now approaching 30 seconds. You have to make that salary match to some degree, because then you wouldn't be able to afford a football team. When you would be able to field a football team is what I'm saying. So like, yeah, in this sense, it works. But overall, I don't, I tend to agree with the quote unquote, the bros, I guess. I feel greasy saying it. But here we are. The dolphins have over

7:20$100 million in dead cap space. The Browns are approaching that. But the sanity as well. But here's the thing. I think the dolphins have a place they want to go with it. I'm wondering if the Browns were thinking the same thing. Right. I mean, Andrew Berry was smart enough to write a modified Dishones contract a couple of years ago in one of the many restructures they've done, where he put an eject button in. And that was the 2027 dummy year veteran minimum non guaranteed. So they could do the post June one cut to spread that out over 27 and 28, whatever the cap charges left over. But where Andrew Berry was absolutely right is the increase of the cap. And the and and the more and the more the cap keeps going up and it is staying on that same trajectory. It's in about 15 to 20 million dollars per year because the NFL keeps finding games to sell. I mean, now they're going to do a Wednesday game or something. They want to do the night

8:23before Thanksgiving game. They got all these international games. They're finding all these games outside of their existing TV contracts to sell that's allowing the cap to keep exploding. Guess what? By the time Dishones contract is off the books in 2028, the cap hit for that's going to be negligible because the cap just keeps going up and up and up and up.
