It covers northern suburbs like Nycliffe, Rapid Creek, and parts of Coconut Grove. The seat opened up after Green's member Kat McNamara resigned in February due to health issues, just 18 months after her win. Four candidates are competing, Ed Smelt from Labor, Suki Doris Walker from the Greens, John John Padeau from the Country Liberals and Independent Phil, Scott. Voting is compulsory, so enrolled residents must turn out or risk a fine. The seat has a tight history, Labor held it since 2001 before the Greens' narrow victory last August. McNamara won by only 36 votes, making her the first Green and Northern Territory Parliament and ousting a former Chief Minister.
