During the 2025 National Football League season, the Philadelphia Eagles hope to bring back

former cornerback, Darius Sley, after the Pittsburgh Steelers waved him.

Sley, a six-time pro-bola with 13 seasons under his belt, drew interest from Philly right away.

But the Buffalo Bills jumped in with higher waiver priority and claimed him first.

The Eagles put in a claim too, but Buffalo won out. Sley never showed up to the Bills though.

Instead of releasing him again, they placed him on the reserve did not report list.

That drama lingered until the off season when Sley announced his retirement.

Sley has always been an eagle at heart after five strong seasons there.

Fans saw it as a perfect reunion story since Philly desperately needed cornerback help at the time.

His loyalty ran deep, making the whole situation bittersweet for supporters.

Recently, on the Jim Rong show, Sley got candid about it all. He made it clear that Philly was his only choice.

If he couldn't return there, he wasn't playing anywhere else.

That mindset explained why he set out with Buffalo.

Luckily for the Eagles, Addery Jackson stepped up big in the second half of the season and filled the gap nicely.

Sley's saga wrapped up on his terms, leaving a legacy as a Philly favorite.
