You know, we've got these data centers coming all over Kansas City. This week, it was approved in Liberty, Missouri for a $1.4 billion center independence. Of course, getting one last night's a judge determined that the residents of independence, Missouri.

Can not fight the approved data center by the city council. They will not be able to gather signatures to try to fight back against it.

Spring Hill, thankfully decided they were not going to go ahead with the data center at 199th and renter, but they're all over Kansas City.

There's 30 in Kansas City, Missouri alone. That doesn't include the suburbs. Daniel Turner is with power the future. He is an expert in this lane of really anything energy related.

He joins us on KCMO. We were texting about it yesterday, Daniel. You know, Kansas Cityans are not really wild about these things, but what is going on in this industry and why maybe Kansas City's becoming an attractive place for these companies?

Yeah, and I understand people's concerns. I am a landowner myself. I talk all the time about my farm here in Shenandoah, Virginia, and people do have a right to say, I don't want.

I want to stop development. I absolutely, you know, that is a right and I actually absolutely support your ability to do that. My pushback on the anti data center movement is when people are conveniently blaming.

My utility costs on them because that's just been disproven multiple times over. There's a lot of things we can talk about with data centers that people are concerned about. They're footprint, their noise, you hear about the humming, water use, et cetera, et cetera.

But the utility stuff is just plain nonsense. And what I was texting with you about, I even put out my social media.

You know, I went through a list of just in the state of Missouri alone, the number of coal and natural gas plants that have shuttered in the last couple of years, all during the Biden administration, of course, but all taken down offline because of climate change, right.

All done under the guise of we're going to go green and we're going to close this fossil fuel plant. We're going to close this coal plant.

We're going to promise we'll put something better there. So really quickly, Rush Island coal plant in Jefferson County, Missouri, 1300 megawatts.

That's 700,000 homes right there. Merimek natural gas plant in St. Louis, 1000 megawatts, new Madrid coal plant in new Madrid County, 1200 megawatts.

I mean, just those three, that's four and a half roughly million homes worth of electricity that was taken offline and replaced with absolutely nothing.

You know the laws of economics when the supply is diminished and the demand stays the same prices go through the roof and prices in Missouri and everywhere are going through the roof.

So hate data centers all you want push back on there. They're coming to your neighborhood. I get it. No one should be strong armed either. I think it's nonsense that a judge says you can't petition to have these things stopped.

Absolutely, you can petition to have these things stopped. But from the energy side, I'm always going to push back and say these are the culprit of your high prices, your stupid elected officials and their stupid green promises to fight climate change.

That is what's driving your electricity prices. Okay. So then with that being the case, you know, is it fair to say that these companies are eyeing places like Kansas City and maybe you know other cities in the Midwest that are being targeted for lack of a better word.

Is it because our energy costs are still relative to California or other coastal states cheaper and is that why Kansas City might be attractive because of access to land and better energy prices, even though they're not good. Is it that simple?

Absolutely, and it's and it's easier to build, right? If you need construction permits, these things are huge, right? These are like building shopping malls. If you need not just the labor power, right? You're not going to unfortunately build these things on the note slope of Alaska.

We can't get the people there. We can't the materials there, but you're in the crossroads of everything so you can get all the people you want. You can get all the supplies and the shipping lanes, right?

And the supply chain is flawless where you live. And you have a regulatory climate that is pretty easy to build. And that's attractive. You want to build these things in the next two years.

So no one is building them in New York. No one is building them in California. Actually speaking of my home state of New York, where I'm originally from, there's a hundred billion dollar plan outside of

Cures. My crown is trying to build it that's been tied up in courts for weeks because of climate change, right? This doesn't fit the climate narrative New York.

It's a hundred billion dollar project and thousands of construction jobs on hold because some hippie who hasn't left Woodstock still wants to pretend we have a climate

crisis. So that is why you're effective. You know, double it short, but people have the right to say, I don't want this thing in my neighborhood. Like I said, if someone tried to take away my land or obscure my beautiful view of Shenandoah and the Blue Ridge mountains, I push back too.

Daniel Turner power the futures here on KCMO. Hey, I want to throw something else at you that you may have seen the Trump administration is waving gasoline regulations to address surging fuel prices.

The report here, I'm just reading this from CNBC. The EPA has lifted restrictions on the sale of E 15 gas, a fuel blend with 15% ethanol.

The sale of E 15 is restricted in about half of the US from June through September due to regulations designed to reduce air pollution.

EPA also saying it's issued a waiver to remove all federal impediments to selling E 10 gas, which is blended with 10% ethanol.

So is this an emission from the government in part that you know, these things are just getting in the way of cheaper gas prices? What's the story here?

Absolutely. This is an admission that all of your government regulation, all it does is add to the price at the end.

It doesn't it doesn't improve the planet. It doesn't fix climate change. It is put in place by people who want to feel good about themselves and it costs you money.

So again, I'll go back to our idiot elected officials and I got to tell you, Pete, the older I get, the more disdain I have for most elected officials.

It's kind of tragic. You used to like idolize these guys as a polypsychid and like, wow, that's Senator X.

And then you actually see them at work and you're like, boy, you're all a bunch of clowns.

So I'm sure there are still some good ones out there. I just have found fewer and fewer of them.

But your idiot elected official runs for office and they say we're going to clean up and we're going to mandate a rule that blah, blah, blah, this type of blend because climate change is real.

It doesn't do anything. It just costs you to pay more for gasoline so that this person can run for reelection saying I passed significant legislation to tackle air pollution.

And then they'll bring some kid up on stage who has asthma and the kid will tell everyone that because the mom will say because of because of you evil oil and gas guzzlers, my kid is sick and you're all supposed to feel bad about it.

Or they'll take the race angle. They'll bring a native American. They'll bring a person of color and they'll say, this is all racism and then boy, now you shut up.

You put your head down and you say, don't pick on me. This is what we do in the energy space. We're not serious about about energy prices.

We're serious about politics. That's all our elected officials care about is politics.
