Acts 18:18-23
18 And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.
19 And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
20 When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;
21 But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.
22 And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.
23 And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.

After spending some time in Antioch, Paul set out from there and traveled from place to the place throughout the region of Galatia and Frigia, strengthening all the disciples. A year ago, I experienced a debilitating stroke that sent me to the hospital for 16 days. This past year has been challenging, but I was fortunate not to lose the use of my right side. However, the stroke did severely weaken that side. I spent nearly two hours every week day exercising to strengthen it. Some days, the monotony of exercise was boring, but everyone told me that exercising was necessary to continue my recovery. I was reading the above
1:04passage from X-18 and realized that Paul must have had times where his daily work felt monotonous. While Paul had some amazing and eventful times, those moments were built upon the routine portions of his life that were vital for his ministry. After reading these verses, I was more motivated while doing my daily exercises. Seeing steady progress in my recovery, I realized that while God sometimes heals through miracles, more often, God heals us through our daily routines. I give thanks that God gives us the strength and wisdom to carry them out. Father God, we pray that you will enable us to carry on in doing your will, even when our daily work feels monotonous. Amen.
