Because I was so amazed by how quickly he replaced our air ducts. I knew I could trust him to change poppups too, while I was on vacation. Make a quick young man. Aw, see? Poppup trusts you. That's ERPO Liaison Referrals at CO.PG.MD.US. ERPO Liaison program. Here for you. You're listening to the Dana and Parks podcast on KMBZ. It is good to be back. I will only say about tomorrow or yesterday, which tomorrow is yesterday looking back to today. That just go with it. That we said goodbye to a man who lived the very best life and lived to 91. And we should all be so lucky to have someone like that in our lives and then to be able to live that life. And it was one of the most moving, beautiful. We laughed. We cried. It was the way you would want to be sent out, Scott. Tell me more about that. It just the stories were so sweet and poignant and eloquent to everyone who got up to speak.

But then there was also humor. And I think that humor should be woven throughout all services of all faiths. So let me ask you something. And we're all four of us. One day we'll have to go meet our maker. Have you given any thought to who you want to deliver your eulogy or eulogies? Because I have, because I have if I could be so Debbie Downer for a moment, I know who I want to deliver my eulogies. Well, I can't imagine it wouldn't be me. You're actually one of three. Because you know I would bring humor into it. And I would tell stories and I would make the girls feel better. But again, humor goes a long way when everyone's obviously grieving and uncomfortable. And this wasn't even nervous after yesterday. There was actual laughter. So when Jojo died back in 2022, I was the last of the three to deliver his eulogy.

And I am petrified, literally petrified about speaking in front of people. Yeah. But you know, the night before I was totally sober, going to the church. I was like, you know, did you write it down? No, I wrote, I wrote bullet points. And I remember sitting in the hotel the night before his funeral. And I wanted to, you know, just like this show, this show is completely improvised. There's nothing written down. We have no idea where we're going in the next 10 minutes. And I like it that way. And so I wanted to improvise his eulogy. And but I did sit down at the desk in my hotel room the night before. And I wrote down a couple of things that I wanted to make sure that I said. And they weren't, they were, it was just like, you know, rock star. Yeah. Because he had recorded three CDs with his band, Shrunken Head.

And we were in a garage band in high school. And there, I knew there was going to be a guy who was in his professional rock band, who was going to be sitting in the front row. And I, I crafted a really good line that I wanted to drop on him. And, um, and then I remember the last line I wrote was to his four children. Yeah. And it's hard to get through that. Because he was so young. I will, I won't be able to get through that. And that's personal. That's personal. I, I, I think I'll start crying. But I have not given a lot of thought to that because we're only 51. And I know we're not promised tomorrow, but I'm not going there yet with who I want up there yakking about my life. I've decided I want, uh, you, my brother, uh, if he survives me. And one of my two daughters, and I'll let them, I'll let them decide. Yeah, or they could go up together. They could go up together. A lot of times the siblings will go up together and one will speak or

someone can write their thoughts down and the pastor will say those thoughts. Sam, you're out because you're too emotional. Yeah. What does that mean? Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I mean my first card ring out. Wow. Wow, really thinks, wow, really, really, really thinks, I don't, I don't need that. First line. He took this long. We are all really surprised. We are really surprised. Well, the moment we've all been waiting for. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, I'm kidding. We had him down at 50. You could do your own. Well, I could. Oh, absolutely. You tape it. Oh, I would certainly do a video tape. So, uh, who had the under? Yeah, you lose. My goodness. I just want to, you know, not to get more bitter anything, but I think we did. I just want it to be fun. I don't want it to be like people bawling their eyes out. It's not going to be fun.

Let's, let's frame that another way. It can be poignant and it can be some parts can be entertaining. And you can, you better entertain. ERPO Liaison program here for you. Yeah, I will make people laugh. But then also at the, you can't say, well, that was fun. Because people are still grieving, right? Even after the longest, most beautiful life lived to age 100, people are still grieving that loss. If there is one at that time, we're going to hire a cover band, an 80s hair metal cover band. Like a kiss band. Sure. I want almost kiss to play at my funeral. I do have one funny story that I will share with you because it involves you guys. I was on time to this service. No one wants to be late to a funeral. It's basically the dead one. However, when I arrive, there is a very small parking lot. And there's a security guard blocking the entrance to the parking lot because there is nowhere to park. So now I'm sort of panicking because there's nowhere to park.

I'm right at the point where I need to be kind of getting inside, right? And so the security guard rolls down her window and I said, I cannot be late. And she looks around and she goes, are you handicapped? And I said, no. But it looked like there was one space next to the handicapped stalls and she goes, well, if you can squeeze right in there next to that handicapped spot, I don't think anyone else is coming. She goes, I'm not going to tell anybody I go, okay. So I pull right up front. I am so excited. I get in. I sign the book. You're so excited to get into a funeral. I'm excited. I wasn't 30 minutes late because Scott, the way this place was laid out, it would have been 30 minutes before I parked and right. Got it. So I get up to the door. I'm just trying to burst in there quietly because people are just sitting down and it's starting. And the door man says to me, you're going to be on the air after this. And I go, oh,

like he's holding the door. The doors have shut, Scott. And he goes, you know, I follow you on social and I saw that you found that new bourbon place out in independence. And I love that place. I'm going to put that on my list. We're at a funeral man. I am trying to quietly burst in at the 11th hour. And he's still holding the door. Like I can't. Then he goes, tell Scott I said, I really enjoy your all show. And I'm like, oh, thank you. Thank you. Open the door. Look, you're like like when you can't curse inside of a church, but I'm like, buddy, I got to go. So I get in. Tell Scott, I said, I'm another woman behind me. And I see Mindy and my girlfriends to the left. And, you know, as I'm sitting down, the rabbi is starting. And I love our listener, Scott. I love them. I love every single one of them. Maybe let us get into the service. And we'll chat about the show when he's, you know,

what we're done. Why did you just do the cross across your face when you were at a Jewish service? I know. I was just like trying to be respectful, but also be in a hurry and respectful. She was, I just want to sit down, you know, get, get, get. And she did that before just trying to get in there before it's too late. Nervous energy. Oh my gosh. In a place you don't know what you're supposed to do. Yeah. No, I, I don't know. I've been to some more than you think, Dan, services of the Jewish faith. It is a beautiful, beautiful religion. But why the cross? I was just trying to get in. But I firmly believe in the celebration of light. That's what I'm saying. Please get in there. I'm talking to me. Dan, whatever Lord, please let me in. I don't believe in the Lord. I'm going, which I'm going with Buddhist here. Hindu. Just let them in, open the door. We're going in. If that makes you feel better, come on in. Yeah. Exactly. And I did awkward transition. May thank you for listening. You know, you should have walked in and said, Allah Akbar. I wouldn't, I wouldn't do that. Zalga.

We appreciate all of our listeners. We really do. Except what I'm late to, you know. I'm going to sit down. Can you imagine if she sat down like third row, whatever right behind Mindy and just sat down and did the the sign of the cross and goes, Allah Akbar, stop it. That would be really funny. Let's just. Or if I sit down and the door opens again and that sweet man goes, get out. Just that one thing you were talking about the other day. You would have said, get out. Can I tell you my grievance? So how do you come up with your topic? Just live life, Dan. We just live life. Just ride that support 913-586-7798. Sam Steve is the third, Dana Wright. My name is Scott here on KMBZ.
