You know, over the years we've had like Luford Rignot in studio, William Shatner, Comic-Con has become a big, big deal, especially here in Kansas City. That's what I was going to say here in Kansas City. It's an even bigger deal when you're an entertainment reporter like me. Yes, and so this year, I mean, some of the biggest names that I can recall, there's two members from the band Iron Maiden, Priscilla Presley,

1:02Kiefer Sutherland, William Shatner, and our next guest. Hello, good afternoon, Peter Fetchanella, hello. Hello, how are you guys? How are you guys? Can you be with us? Yeah, we're excited, man. By the way, Comic-Con March 27th through the 29th down at Bartle Hall. It's going to be fantastic. So excited, so excited. I love how we were just talking a minute ago about how you get star-struck, because we get star-struck all the time when celebs walk in the door, but it's funny to hear an actual star get star-struck. Who have you seen that you've been like, oh, hey? Oh, well, definitely we'll, Bill Shatner for sure. Do I call him Bill now? Since I've met him a few times, I've seen Comic-Con or I've called William Shatner. He insisted that we call him Bill. Okay, I'll call him Bill then. And Lee Majors really got me too. I grew up with a biotic man and like the fall guy who's just the coolest.

2:03So that was cool. I didn't tell you this one. I remember doing a movie with Ferris-Ferris-Bueller, the actor played at Ferris-Bueller. Matthew Broder? Matthew Broder, and I was like, and a scene with him thinking to myself, oh my god, I can't believe I'm working with Matthew Broder. I can't believe I'm working with Ferris-Bueller. This is crazy. And I'm thinking, I'm totally getting star-struck in the middle of the scene. And then I said to myself, oh, wait, I have a line right now. I'm supposed to be saying as these stairs blankly at me. And so I say my line and I keep the scene going. And the director came afterwards, they said, cut. And he comes over and he goes, hey, that moment that you had there, you know, you took that pause. And I go, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, he goes, that was really beautiful. I don't know what was going on in your mind, but it was really beautiful. I was like, thanks. Little did he know I was just having a star-struck moment in the middle of my scene. What he did was that you were thinking, Bueller, Bueller, Bueller, Bueller.

3:12How often do you guys do these? Is the Comic Con? I've always found this fascinating. The stars that they're able to attract and the crowd, by the way, Peter, when you're in town, I don't know if you've ever been to Kansas City. You're going to love it. But I hear good things about the barbecue. So I'm very excited. There's more to Kansas City than barbecue and I hope you enjoy it. But the crowd is going to be huge. Is this a touring kind of thing? Do you guys go from city to city or is it just a one-off? No, we've done a few now the cast and I from Twilight. Sometimes I'll do them on my own. But it's always more fun when I'm doing with the family. We call ourselves the family. We have a family chain that we text on. I mean, we have one in Paris next month. Maybe once a month, depends on when we're working, when we're not working. If we have time off, we'll go and do them. So excited to go to Kansas City.

4:14And the fans have been great and wherever they are. So I was telling Michael like, we do our movies and we're in a bubble. So when we get to actually interact and hear from the fans and hear how these movies have affected them, it's really beautiful. I've heard some really beautiful stories. Did you catch that that he called in the van? Yeah, I got it. I got it. That's the van. That made me laugh. So there's a mini Twilight. There's a mini Twilight reunion coming next weekend. So who's coming alongside you? Who are excited to play ball with? Jackson Rathbone, actually Green, and Kellyn Lutz. And I think Maggie Grace is coming, I think. But yeah, it's a fun group. We're a fun group. Kellyn Lutz gives the best hugs. So make sure you get a hug from him. Big, you know, the early guy and he just gets like great big bear hug. So they're fun. I he was on the comeback and the comeback is coming back next week.

5:16Or actually this weekend on HBO. I wonder if he's making a research and so on that. That's where I recognized him from. I don't know. He should. That's the show I'd love to be on. I mean, that was a fun show back of the day. I don't know why they canceled it back then. But I'm glad it's the comeback is coming back. The comeback come back. The comeback come back. One of my questions to you is it's funny because everyone walks up to you and sometimes they recognize you. But not from necessarily where you think that like you get bikers who recognize you from Nurse Jackie or something. Is that how it works? I always have to kind of guess and sometimes I'm way off. So sometimes I'll have like a big burly guy go, love your work. And I'll say, well, what did you like Scorpion King? I always like think, well, they must like the adrenaline stuff or like fast lane from his TV show. I do where it was like fast cars. And I'll get, no, I love John Nurse Jackie. And I'm like, wow, I never can't imagine this guy going, can't go out tonight, boys, I'm watching Nurse Jackie today. Did that come in? Nobody ever recognizes you from the one episode on Hannah Montana?

6:18That one I have never been on Hannah Montana, but I wish that I was. Oh, your bio says that you were on Hannah Montana. Really? Yeah. That's weird. What are you sure you looked at the right bio? I've never been on Hannah Montana. It says that you went by the name Snowball on the episode Get Down Study, Uddy Uddy. What? What was that later you on? Was that your evil twin? Yeah, that's you know, are you on the, are you on the actual web or is it like the dark way? The dark way has to be the dark web. That's hilarious. You have a credit for Hannah Montana. Whether you like it or not, I'll take it. It wasn't me, but I'll take it. Right. And you got your big break sort of, a lot of people eyes first saw you on six feet under. But a lot of people remember you from the romcom, can't hardly wait. And that was, was that like 30? I feel like that was like 28, 29 years ago now. Now you're, now you're aging me. Yeah, that was 1998.

7:19So almost 30 years, almost 30 years. It's a blink of an eye really. I mean, incredible. I'm actually working. I've worked with Seth Green again. We just did a movie together where I directed him in a romantic comedy with Ashley Green. If you can believe it or not. So it's Ashley Green and Seth Green are my two leads. And we have the best time. And I'm so excited. It comes out probably end of this year, beginning next. I'm in post-production on it now. So, but so fun to direct. I was so, it was so fun to direct them. Also, I did not know this negative about you until I talked to you just a few minutes ago. But tell our listeners what Peter Fachinelli's guilty pleasure is. You have one and it is rich. I'm almost afraid to ask, say this because if I say this, then a lot of fans will bring it to me. And I'm trying not to eat them right. Because, you know, I got to keep my girlish figure. But it's peanut M&Ms. I mean, I can't, if I can't just have one.

8:19So it's a, if I have one, I eat the whole bag. No matter what, how big the bag is, you know, sometimes they've got those big pillowcase-sized bags. And you're just like, I will eat them into oblivion. And I said, my dream is to sit in a bathtub full of peanut M&Ms and just eat them one by one. Now, you're not like Van Halen, where you have a writer that says all the brown ones have to be removed from the bowl, right? No, no, any color is good with me. I'll take any color. Yeah, let me ask you this. And I love to ask actors this question. What is the movie that you're most proud of? And which is the one where you're like, I wish I had never read that script. 9:20Because like, I got the best job in the world. Like, it's so fun to do it. Like, you go there and you just get the play these other people. And, you know, it's, um, you have to work with some, some fun other actors and collaborate on this artwork, art piece. And there's some that more people have seen and some that less people have seen. But I mean, I have one litmus test and it's served me well from my old career. From the day I started, I always said, if I'm excited, I always look at a script and I say, am I going to be excited to go to work in the morning? And if I take on the role, it's because I'm excited to go to work on the morning because I like the script. So no matter what project it is, I've always been excited to go to work in the morning. And so if it's a big, you know, big blockbuster that hits the masses like Twilight or a smaller movie that fewer people have seen, it's, to me, I've always put as much passion and energy into each role that I've done. So they all become my favorite then.

10:21Peter, I have two daughters. They're both young adults now. And I've always told them, and I bet you would echo this, find something that you are so passionate about that you want to do with your life. Like, you know, I've been on the radio in Kansas City for over 30 years. And I've never been to work a day in my life. And it's because I love what I do. And I've always told my kids, find something that you love to do and you will never go to work a day in your life. That's so beautiful. You know, I do echo that. And that's the advice my dad gave me when I was, because you know, you tell somebody you want to be an actor and a lot of parents will say, don't do that. It's not a safe job or it's not a safe career. But my parents never said, go for it or don't go for it. He just said, whatever you, you know, have the most passion and love to do, I will support it no matter what that is. And he said to me,

11:22if you love what you do, you'll make money at it because you'll put so much energy into it that you'll, you know, people will pay you well for it. So when people go, well, I want to be this or that because it pays well, that's not the reason to go into something, you know. It's like go into it because you're fully passionate and because you love that. And like you said, you'll never work a day in your life. And then you'll put so much energy into it and passionate that people say, hey, that person's good at that. Get that person. I want that person and you'll get hired to do it. Have you ever met William Shatter? I have met him many times at Comic Contents. I've never gotten a chance to work with him. He is, you know, such a ball of energy. I mean, he's 90, something years old and he shows up at these Comic Contents. That's such great energy. And I said to Bill, I said, how do you do it? Because you've been doing it for so long and don't you have to get tired? And like, and he was sitting at the lunch table and he said, give me your hand. And you know, I've held out my hand.

12:22And he poured, you know, that stuff that you clean your hands with. What's that what's that called? Hand sanitizer. Is it sanitizer? Yeah, hand sanitizer. He's like, you poured a bunch of hand sanitizer in my hands. He goes, now rub it in your eyeballs. And he goes, that's how you stay awake, kid. And I was like, okay. That's sense of humor. I was in there with a handful of hand sanitizers. I was like, okay. Please tell me, please tell me you didn't do it. I did not do that. I did not, I do not recommend that. Now, you've had a wide range of roles. You've done two interviews so far today. This is kind of a two-part question. Do you have a dream role? That's why I forgot what hand sanitizer was right. What's the thing that you sanitize your hands with? Do you have a dream role or a dream interview that you would love to be called for? Oh my God, that's a hard one, too. If I knew I would write it, you know, it's like,

13:23because I write, too. It's like, I remember once I played a role, I played Eric Weinmeer, true story. I played Eric Weinmeer, who is the first and only blind man to ever climb Mount Everest. Or he was at the time, I played him. And I thought, I couldn't think like, hey, what role, you know, I wouldn't have been able to write that role. You know what I mean? Like, how would you think of that role? So until I, like, have it in my hand, it's hard to know, you know? But again, I just kind of go with what's going to get me excited on my way to work. And I do write, and I do direct, and I do produce. So like, I'm always looking for fun stories. I produced a movie called The Unbreakable Boy, and I read this book, and it was such a beautiful story. And I said, I want to see this on screen. And it was basically a selfish act. I was like, I want to walk into a movie theater and be able to watch this movie. And so I shepherded it to studios. And we got it made exactly if I played the lead. And it was, you know, lines gave me this movie.

14:24And I was able to walk into a movie theater and see it. And that was exciting to me to be able to, like, you know, find a story and shepherd it into making it into a movie. Well, we're excited and thrilled that you're going to be in town for a Comic-Con. It is March 27th through the 29th. I hope you truly enjoy Kansas City. We are, I've long made this argument. We're the greatest hidden gem in America. And I hope you get a chance to explore our city and find the just unbelievable things there are to do here. I'm very excited to come. Explain one thing to me because I still get confused. Because, you know, there's Kansas City. And it's in two states, Kansas City, right? Is Kansas City, Missouri? So yeah, you're right. There are two Kansas cities. There's Kansas City, Kansas, and Kansas City, Missouri. The big one, you know, that everybody refers to when you think about the chiefs or the royals, that is Kansas City, Missouri. Kansas City, Kansas is a smaller town, but it's literally right across the river

15:31from Kansas City, Missouri. So do you guys consider yourself all one Kansas City? And it just happens to be across two borders, or are they kind of separate? Oh, you're trying to start a fight. I can't tell. Don't go there. You're trying to start a fight. Don't go there. No, Peter, don't go there. Okay, I didn't know if this is a bad question. No, no. I just wondered. There's me wondering out loud. This is live, right? Let's sniff that out. I don't know what it got to be. So Sam, our producer. You're too bad, this is live. No, it's starting to war. Sam, our producer lives in Kansas City, Missouri. You just, he just asked the question a minute ago. And then Michael and I live on the Kansas side of the state line. But if I, if I were like, for example, I'm going to be in Cancun in like three weeks, right? And if somebody asked, I live in a town called Shawnee, but if somebody said, where are you from? I would just say Kansas City. Okay, so there's no distinction. Like is that like the half guilty McCoy's? You guys are all good. Now, I will say at Comic Con, which is in Missouri, Kansas City, Missouri.

16:32Recognize that you're in Missouri. Not say to people, man, it's so great to be in Kansas. You're in Missouri, young man. You're in Missouri, Peter Fetchanelli. I'm not in Kansas anymore.
