2:08Channel nine chief meteorologist Brian Busby. Joining us on the KMBZ hotline. Hello, good friend. Hello, how are you, sir? Well, we're doing well next week, and we're not going to do it tonight, obviously, with severe weather moving in. We do have a buzz phrase for you next week. A buzz phrase. We're going to save that till Monday. I think I was listening to you guys at the two o'clock. Does there have anything to do with bill books? It does have a lot to do with bill books and building. Yes, it does. Brian, it was very loud last night. When is it going to be very loud now? Probably later on tonight, like after sunset. We just have this call from the hanging out to our west. They just issued a tornado watch for a handful of counties to our northwest, including the extreme northwestern corner of the state of Missouri. So it's going to be like Addison County, Missouri, Hold County, all the way toward Bethany. So it's going to be just a few counties up to our north, including Worse and Harrison. It also includes a few counties on

3:10the Kansas side as well in North East Kansas. That goes until 10 o'clock. That is a tornado watch. Reason being, the front still way out to our west, and they were able to get up pretty warm. Like St. Joe Northward, they were untouched by the rain. So therefore, when the front moves through, they have all the ingredients, or at least more the ingredients coming together, more so than what we have down here. Our saving grace is the fact that although there's some sunshine poking out close to the metro, it is still pretty much overcast. And if it does break out into sunshine like some are seeing, the clouds are moving right back in. And so that's going to kind of dilute how much energy the atmosphere has at its disposal. So yes, we're still going to see another chance of thunderstorms tonight, probably. The window for up north will be four to seven. The window for the metro will probably be later than that closer to eight or nine. And still the possibility of gusty winds number one, hail can't be ruled out. And the tornadoes we're talking about will not be the ones you see in the movie Twister, not the ones that are long tracking that stay on

4:13the ground for hours on in like you see in Oklahoma. They're the spin ups that kind of drop down for a brief minute or two and then pop right back up. And those are going to be the tough ones to kind of even keep a hand along because we can look at them on radar. We may see it. And then on the next sweep around, they're gone. So just that's why everybody should be whether aware tonight. Brian, that's a big swath. I'm looking at the posting from the National Weather Service here. It is a huge swath that they're talking about here. You're talking about the whole tornado watch? Yeah. Yeah, because it goes all the way back towards South Central. I'll call it Central portions of Kansas, up into Iowa, just right along the front because all that area had a good deal of sunshine. They were able to warm up during the warm sector. And therefore they have more of the ingredients like I see more so than what we have here. Well, and I heard Dan Weinbaum in his news at three o'clock saying that the wind gust could get up to 60, 70 miles per hour. That's going to put a hitch in my get along. So that's why you have to definitely keep a watch on your get along or a hitch or whatever.

5:18Neville's over here laughing. There it goes. Trying to watch for Etchison, Andrew, Gentry, Harrison, Holt, not away in Worth Counties. And the reason that we can see gusty winds it's so that extent is because it is pretty gusty up above in the app they call it in the attic. And some of that stuff gets mixed down as some of these thunderstorms start to really mature. But again, let me say this, not every one of the thunderstorms that forms the ceiling will have that much energy associated with them, only a few will. And so it's hard to say what number how many will be to that extent, but suffice it to say until the front lose through after midnight or so. We can't let our guard down totally. It's warmed up to 70 degrees this afternoon. There's a little bit of sunshine outside not a ton. Is that good news or bad news as this storm approaches? It's not the best news because you can still get a spin up along the front. I would

6:20tend to think that probably for us, our actions probably going to happen closer to when the front moves through and that's going to be later on tonight, even after the sun goes down. But enough of the energy will still be around that it could cause some issues for at least the gusty winds that Dan was talking about. And I hope we don't get any of those little spin-ups that kind of attach themselves to the line of storms as they move through. If you have a garage park your car on the garage tonight. I would say so just to be on the safe side. Because the stronger the thunderstorm, the stronger the updraft, the stronger the updraft, the more likely the hail can grow. Well, and the storm has a hailstone of an inch in diameter or larger. Oh, yikes. And the stronger the winds, Brian, I think history will show the stronger the likelihood that you'll have a wobble in your saddle. You know, I've been told, especially for those who are more conscientious about keeping tabs on their... What was it? The wobbling of their saddle.

7:22Oh, there's a saddle. Thank you. I forget what the actual noun was. Thank you for that. And you know, today is actually the ninth anniversary of the Oak Grove, tornado. Is it really? Nine years. Yep. Wow. All right, well, we are aware. We will continue with our awareness. We've actually talked to a business owner, Brian, who changed their plans. They had like an outdoor patio. They were going to have live music tonight. They said, nope, sob, Brian's forecast. We're moving it to next week. Well, I appreciate that. And again, you know, short term, that should be okay for the next couple of hours or so. I would say as we get closer and closer to sunset, that's where we need to have our guard up. And the other thing is because we can't see the horizon. That's why no growth tornado. Miraculously, nobody was killed, but you didn't know what was going on because you couldn't see because it was already after sunset. So definitely be aware, not paranoid, not freaked out, but just be aware. Okay, buddy. Hey, we'll be watching this afternoon tonight. Thanks, man. All right, take care, guys. Love y'all. 8:24anniversaries, guess what Monday is? What? I'm hurt. Well, I have my calendar here. Is it? Do you know what Monday is? Oh, there it is. There it is. 30th anniversary. Scott lost his nose when I put it in my calendar. It was the 30. It'll be the 38th anniversary. All right. So now I'm going to redo that to 38. I'm telling you, I don't miss your nose aversory. I cannot believe it's been almost 40 years. Yeah. Since I went through the windshield of a car, you remember the brief time that you were noseless. I do. Yeah, I was conscious. You were conscious, but you were in shock. Oh, I'm oh, horribly. Let me tell you something. When you go through that much, I say pain in air quotes, you don't feel it. I never felt pain until the next day. Your body shuts down those neurons. The adrenaline kicks in so hard that you feel no pain at all. I was in shock. As I mentioned,
