Officials are telling residents to shelter right away in the strongest part of their homes as destructive winds gust over 200 kilometers per hour and heavy rain hits the area. The cyclone peaked a category five in the Coral Sea before dropping a notch early Friday. Premier David Christopher Lee warned that these could be the strongest winds this region has seen in decades, with widespread power outages likely to last, four days. Residents in Cohen, Lockhart River, and nearby spots like Port Stewart are hunkered down, with no injuries reported yet.
