Croydon Council Trims Yellow Box Junction, Refunds Fines

0:00On April 28, Coyden Council just shrunk a notorious yellow box junction on Addis Comroad after it pulled in nearly 2 million pounds and fines. Over the last decade, London Tribunals slammed the original setup as disproportionately large and fundamentally flawed, ordering the council to wipe out those penalty, charge notices. Since enforcement kicked off on January 17, 2017, they've issued 26,244 tickets each at 160 pounds a pop. Half the box stretched over a private driveway for the number one Coyden tower, trapping buses and left-turning drivers from East Coyden station. Motorists hid back hard, sparking a backlash that lit up social media. Internet campaigner Sam Wright, aka the yellow box guru, called it out in March as a pointless obstacle creating way more hassled in help, especially for buses dodging fines.
