CPS Investigates Epstein-Mandelson-Andrew Ties

0:00On April 1st, prosecutors from the Crown Prosecution Service are stepping in with early investigative advice to police probing links between Jeffrey, Epstein and two high-profile figures, former ambassador Peter Mandelson, and Prince Andrew. Both men were arrested back in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office tied to their past dealings with the convicted sex offender. They are out on bail while the investigations continue. Andrew, the 64-year-old former Duke of York, got picked up on February 19th at his Sanderingham estate. Cops suspect he might have shared sensitive info with Epstein during his stint as UK trade envoy from 2001 to 2011. Mandelson, the 66-year-old ex-business secretary, was arrested four days later with questions about info he allegedly passed on around two. In 2008 to 2010, both have flat out denied any wrongdoing, and Epstein himself died by suicide in 2019 while facing sex trafficking charges.

1:02These arrests have stirred up old questions about elite connections to the financier, putting fresh scrutiny on their roles in government and diplomacy. Now the CPS is liaising with the Metropolitan Police on the 72-year-old, that's Andrew and Thames, Valley Police for Mandelson's case. People say they'll keep supporting as needed, keeping the probes active without rushing charges. Meanwhile, King Charles and Queen Camilla's state visit to the U.S. is still on for this month, despite global tensions. But with these UK investigations ongoing, they won't be meeting Epstein's victims during the trip, leaving that door firmly shut for now.
