Cowboys Trade for Gary, Boost Defense

The Dallas Cowboys jumped the gun on free agency by trading with the Green Bay Packers for past Russia where Sean Gary, hours before negotiations could, even start. This marks the second straight year these teams have swapped players, filling a key gap on Dallas's defense. After sending Michael Parsons to Green Bay last year, the Cowboys have had trouble getting consistent pressure upfront. They missed out on a deal for Max Crosby from the Raiders, but landed Gary, a former pro-Bulled-Rusher, drafted 12th overall in 2019, out of Michigan. Gary brings solid stats, with 46.5 sacks over seven NFL seasons. Last year alone, he had 45 tackles and 7.5 sacks, shining especially against the run. Dallas gave up just a fourth round pick in 2027.
