Cowboys Draft Caleb Downs, Top Safety

0:00On April 27th, the Dallas Cowboys just made a smart move in the draft, trading up one spot to pick 11 to grab Caleb Downs, the top ranked safety. From Ohio State, they gave two 5th round picks to the Miami doffins to snag him in the first round. An early bus says he's the best player in this whole class. Adding some fun to the story, Downs and Cowboys head coach Brian Schadenheimer went heads ahead in a putting contest right after the pick. The coach came out on top this time, but Downs had beaten him during his pre-draft visit. Scouts are hyped, ranking Downs number one overall on their final bigboard, and they slapped an A plus plus grade on the Cowboys for this move. As the 2025 Big Ten defensive player of the year, he's got the skills the shutdown plays from day one.
