Cowboys Boost Defense with Thompson, Gary

They just agreed to terms on a three-year deal worth up to $36 million with free agent safety. Jalen Thompson. They also traded for defensive in Rashon Gary from the Green Bay Packers. Thompson's been his whole career with the Arizona Cardinals since entering the league via the supplemental draft in 2019. Last season he played 15 games, racking up 95 tackles in one interception. Over his career he has 578 tackles, 37 passes defended, and 9 picks. These moves target the Cowboys secondary, which struggled with injuries last year and aimed to boost pressure up front. Gary was on the trade block and Dallas stepped up with the right offer to get consistent sacks going. The defense had a rough season overall, but with better health and these new pieces, things could turn around fast. New defensive coordinator Christian Parker inherits a stronger group right away.
