Councillors Clean Up Fly-Tipping Mess

0:00On April 17th, a fly-tip mess on Anisley Road in Nottinghamshire has two county counselors ready to roll up their sleeves and clean it up, themselves. Reform UK's Rory Green and Richard Darrington are fed up with the growing pile next to the A611 between Huck-Nall and Anisley, and they're giving Astral District Council just 14 days to handle it. The rubbish started piling up last year, kicked off by waste from what looks like a cannabis grow, and it's only gotten worse with extras like a... Fridge and mattress springs added on. The counselors sent a formal letter pushing the council to act fast. Local folks see it as a total eye sore right by a busy main road, sparking complaints and frustration over the five or six months it sat there amid. Some land ownership disputes. The district council pushed back, saying the spots on private or unadopted land, so it's mainly the land ownership, unless it's a real hazard, or nuisance to people nearby. Green plants to split the cost of a skip with Darrington, or haul it to the tip themselves to get it done, while the council warns about following waste, disposal rules, but respects the proactive vibe.
