Cop Faces Misconduct Probe Over Social Media Comments

0:00On April 10th, Richard Cook, the former chairman of the West Midlands Police Federation and now a serving sergeant, faces a gross misconduct probe. Over some social media comments he made back in 2025. The trouble started when he reposted an article about a work-shar officer found guilty of harassment and added that false allegations often wrecked. Offices lives too. Charlotte Smith, the woman who reported that officer, filed a complaint calling Cook's words inappropriate and inflammatory. Smith hit back hard, saying the posts fell deeply insulting to abuse survivors, especially those targeted by male cops. It sparked public complaints that kicked off this formal investigation on March 30th. This isn't Cook's first run-in. Last December he got suspended from a share role for dismissing widespread racism claims as nonsense, but a high. Court ruling in January 2026 overturned that, citing free speech issues. Lincolnshire Police is handling the independent probe and Cook remains on duty with no suspension.
