Connecticut Service Workers Win First Union Contract

Hundreds of these employees, represented by the Union 32B-JSEIU, work at franchise spots along Route 15, Interstate 95, and Interstate 395. The five-year deal with Apple Green USA travel plaza central services was announced on Friday. The contract kicks in on April 1, 2026, and runs through March 1, 2031. It brings key improvements, like more predictable work schedules, and a formal process for handling complaints through grievances and arbitration. Workers will also get better vacation time that builds up over time, plus access to training programs. Wages now match Connecticut's standard wage law, giving employees more stability in a tough industry. Negotiations started back in January, right after the workers voted to unionize in December.
