Commanders Re-sign Drake Jackson, Boost Defensive Line

0:00On March 6, the Washington commanders are locking in some of their own free agents before the market opens next week. They just brought back defensive end Drake Jackson on a one-year contract. At 24 years old, the 6 foot 4-273-pound Lyman brings real potential to the defensive front. Earlier this week, earlier moves included resigning detrick-wise and shy tuddle, making Jackson the third defensive Lyman to stay put. He was originally a second-round draft pick by the San Francisco 49ers back in the 2022 NFL draft, where he flashed early. Promise with three sacks as a rookie. A serious knee injury sideline him for most of the 2023 season and kept him out the entire next year. The 49ers let him go after the 2025 draft and the commanders picked him up in October, putting him on injured reserve. Right away, thanks to connections from General Manager Adam Peters, who worked with the 49ers before, Jackson got activated in early December. He suited up for three games, picking up three tackles and showing he could contribute.
