Colts Sign Wooden for Versatile Defense

Last season, Wooden lined up mainly as the nose tackle despite weighing just 290 to 300 pounds, which isn't his ideal spot. In Green Bay, he still made an impact by ranking 38th out of 146 defensive tackles in runstop percentage, even if pass rushing wasn't his focus with only 14 pressures. Wooden himself says he was out of position before, and now the Colts plan to use him in 3-5 techniques, letting him attack more like he did, in college instead of just holding ground at 0 technique. He'll rotate behind stars like the Force Buckner and Grover Stewart alongside a Deedamiwa Adabawa, war and new free agent Derek Anati who handles the run-stuffing duties. This move gives the Colts more versatility up front, setting Wooden up to thrive in a scheme that finally matches his natural game.
