The Colts are focused on securing long-term contracts with quarterback Daniel Jones and wide receiver Alec Pierce, who are heading toward free agency. General Manager Chris Ballard has made it clear the team prefers extensions over tags, viewing them only as a backup option since they're not ideal. For the salary cap, for quarterbacks the franchise tag comes in at $43,890,000 while wide receivers sit at $27,290,000, transition tags are lower at about $38,000,000 for QBs and $24,000,000 for receivers. Teams must decide by March 3rd with free agency talks starting March 9th so the Colts will keep pushing for those deals as the deadline nears.
