Colts Draft Seth McGowan for Backfield Battle

0:00On April 30th, late on day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts grabbed Kentucky running back Seth McGowan to bolster their backfield. McGowan put up 730 rushing yards at New Mexico in 2024, then jumped to 824 yards in the SEC with Kentucky last season. He also saw 64 targets in the passing game over those two years. With Jonathan Taylor owning the top spot, McGowan has to prove himself in past protection and special teams to carve out snaps. He's only got 9 career special teams plays, so that's a big area for growth. Colts Scout Tyler Hughes called it a projection pick, praising McGowan's tough running style, size, and smarts, but stressed developing those other, skills to make the active roster fast.
