Colts Draft Georgia's CJ Allen: A True Dawg

0:00On April 25th, the Indianapolis Colts grabbed inside linebacker C.J. Allen from Georgia in the second round of the NFL draft, picking him 53rd. Overall, he's the latest bulldog to make that jump, following stars like Rhoquan Smith, Jaylon Walker, Quay Walker, and Nicobie Dean, all coached up by Glenn, Shuman and Kirby Smart. Allen led Georgia in tackles last season with 88 stops and added 3.5 sacks showing his sideline to sideline speed. The Colts scouted him hard, holding a formal meeting before the draft and checking out Georgia's pro day. He called it a badge of honor to carry on that Georgia legacy the right way, especially landing with Indy. Sitting with family in Atlanta for the draft, he felt the nerves as time ticked down to the last minute, but trusted the timing worked out perfect. What stands out is how the Colts see him as a true dog. A physical defender who loves the game and elevates the unit, they finished 8-9 last year.

1:003rd in the AFC South, so they need that edge. Allen is fired up to hit the ground running and pushed his team higher right away.
