Colts' Draft Focus: Edge Rusher After Greenard Stays

On March 30th, the Indianapolis Colts are hunting for a top pass rusher, but their veteran

options vanished fast after free agency.

Their biggest target, Minnesota Vikings' defensive end, Jonathan Greenard, looks locked

in with his current team.

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell made it clear at the NFL annual meeting this week, saying

he expects Greenard to stick around.

Earlier, Minnesota fielded trade calls to ease cap pressure, but nothing happened, and

talks continued through the offseason.

Greenard turns 29 in May, coming off a down year with three sacks due to a shoulder

issue, but he dropped quarterbacks for 12 sacks in, each of the two prior seasons.

He wants a massive new deal of traded, pushing toward 30 million a year like recent free

agent stars.

Colts owner, Carly Urce Gordon, stressed a defensive line as their top priority at the

meetings, pointing to strong draft chances to fill the gap.

The free agency done, Indy Shiff's focused there while keeping an eye on surprised

trades.

Expect the Colts to load up in the draft for that edge rush boost, building around young

guys like Lyatu Latu to turn their defense into a real, threat next season.
