Colts' Ballard Faces Make-or-Break Offseason

NFL.com's Kevin Patro nailed the top three priorities, bulking up the edge rush, sorting the nickel corner spot, and figuring out quarterback, Anthony Richardson's future. First up, the front seven needs serious pressure. La A2, La 2 balled out with 8.5 sacks, 45 tackles, and 61 quarterback pressures in year two, but the rest of the line didn't show up. They signed Arden Key and Michael Clemens for death, yet Ballard has to draft at least one more rotational edge, like those day two prospects to he. Up QBs consistently, meanwhile, the second area is in flux since Kenny Moore. The second is on the trade block, in his contract's final year. That puts second year corner Justin Wally in line for nickel duties, despite missing all of last season with an ACL tier.

Over at quarterback, Richardson's tenure looks done after not panning out, especially with Daniel Jones locked in on a big deal. The Colts gave him permission to seek a trade before the May 1st 5th year option deadline, likely declining it anyway. Riley Leonard impressed late last season, so he's primed his back up if Richardson bounces during draft week. Ballard's trade back style fits with no first round pick, and all these gaps, so expect to move to stack talent fast and turn this roster around before. Next season kicks off.
