Cole Dickerson: Mariners' Powerful New Outfielder

0:00Seattle Mariner's story is making news on March 12th. Seattle Mariner's prospect rankings are out and making his debut at number 11 is Outfielder Cole Dickerson. The former Indiana Hoosier joined the organization as a fifth round pick last year. He signed for slot value and brings high upside with his power potential and strong defense in center field. Dickerson burst onto the scene early in college with huge hits to all fields and impressive exit speeds. He finished the season with an OPS over 1000 and kept his strikeout rate under 20%. That combo had scouts buzzing before the draft. Many experts pegged him as a top 100 talent for the class of 2025, but he fell to the 150 second spot overall. The Mariner's jumped at the chance to grab him, seeing him as a potential steal. That said, his bat-to-ball skills need work. He chases pitches outside the zone too often and struggles sometimes adjusting to breaking balls. Still, his athleticism in barrel contact give him a solid floor.
