Coach Gates Fights for Retired Jerseys: Mitchell & Brown

0:00On March 5, Missouri basketball coach Dennis Gates is pushing hard to get two jersey numbers retired at Mizu Arena, number 24 for former. Star Kobe Brown and number 25 for current standout Mark Mitchell. Earlier this week on his radio show, Gates made it clear he's fighting for this recognition as long as he's coaching there. Mitchell transfer from Duke last season and has been huge for the Tigers, leading the team in points at 17.4 per game, rebounds at 5.2 and assists at 3.6. Meanwhile, Brown wrapped up a strong four years at Missouri as a first team all Southeast conference player, averaging 10.8 points in six, rebounds over 123 games. He went on to get drafted 30th overall in 2023 and recently moved from the Clippers to the Pacers. Gates praised both for transforming the program, saying no one in the conference means more to their team than Mitchell and Brown's presence helped with recruiting top talent.
