They released veteran right tackle Jawan Taylor, and agreed to trade cornerback Trent McDuffy to the Los Angeles Rams. These steps give them more room under the cap as free agency starts next week. The release of Taylor saves the team $20 million right before the new league year. He had one year left on his four year $80 million deal from 2023. Taylor helped the Chiefs win a Super Bowl and reach another, but his 49 penalties over 45 games were a real problem. Chiefs fans and analysts see this as smart money management.
