Cy: Gyda dyfodiad gwanwyn, roedd yr haul yn tywynnu drwy'r ffenestr ystafell gegin tŷ mawr a oedd wedi gweld gwell dyddiau, yn goleuo'r llanast bendigedig o lestri pobi a wasanaethau ar hyd y cownter.
En: With the arrival of spring, the sun shone through the kitchen window of the large house that had seen better days, illuminating the wonderful mess of baking dishes and services all over the counter.
Cy: Roedd Gareth wedi penderfynu arwain ym maes coginio heddiw.
En: Gareth had decided to take the lead in the field of cooking today.
Cy: Roedd am ddangos i Carys nad oedd ei dalentau'n stopio gyda'r tostiwr.
En: He wanted to show Carys that his talents didn’t stop with the toaster.
Cy: Roedd yn mynd i geisio pobi tarten ceirios.
En: He was going to attempt baking a cherry tart.
Cy: Gyda llawer o awch, cychwynnodd Gareth.
En: With much enthusiasm, Gareth began.
Cy: Roedd y rysáit o'i flaen, ond roedd y mesuriadau i gyd mewn metrig, rhywbeth a oedd yn peri ychydig o her.
En: The recipe was in front of him, but all the measurements were in metric, something which posed a bit of a challenge.

En: "No problem," he said to himself, "they're only numbers after all."

En: Of course, his efforts weren’t going as well as he hoped.
Cy: Pan fu iddo gyrraedd cam ychwanegu menyn i'r toes, canfu fod ganddo lai o fenyn nag oedd angen.
En: When it came to the step of adding butter to the dough, he found that he had less butter than needed.
Cy: "Dim problem", meddai Gareth eto, "byddai Carys yn gweithio rhywbeth allan."
En: "No problem," said Gareth again, "Carys would figure something out."
Cy: Yn wir, roedd Carys yn sefyll ar y naill ochr, yn gwylio, gyda chwerthin cynnil yn llenwi'r ystafell.
En: Indeed, Carys stood to the side, watching, with a subtle laugh filling the room.
Cy: "Beth am ddefnyddio 'chydig o flawd ychwanegol?" meddai hi, clyfar iawn.
En: "How about using a bit of extra flour?" she suggested, very cleverly.
Cy: Gareth eisteddodd, yn penderfynu mynd ymlaen gyda syniad, er bod y pryderiadau yn parhau i dyllu'n gilwg.
En: Gareth sat down, deciding to go ahead with the idea, even though concerns continued to gnaw at him.
Cy: Llwyddodd i baratoi'r toes orau ag y gallai, yna gwahaniaethodd y ceirios dros y top, yn berswadio'r toes i lynu at ei gilydd yn wael.
En: He managed to prepare the dough as best as he could, then spread the cherries on top, persuading the dough to stick together poorly.

En: When the time came to turn on the oven, Gareth found himself confused by the controls; they had worn out over the years.

En: With sufficient guesswork, he set the oven to what he hoped was just right and watched it anxiously.

En: Gareth and Carys paused, and on their faces appeared a magical warmth.

En: "It’s certainly a cherry explosion," Carys grinned, and the two of them laughed.

En: The frustration turned into laughter and sharing, and Gareth shook his head.
