Chargers Release Mekhi Becton, Clear Cap Space

ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler reports the move comes after Beckton signed with the team this off-season. He had just won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles, but struggled badly in his only year with the Chargers. Beckton set out three games and missed time in 14 others during the 2025 season. Pro football focus gave him a 35.7 overall grade, ranking him 79th out of 81 guards. Average performance sits at 60.0. His run blocking earned the lowest score league-wide at 34.3. Past blocking was not much better at 45.2 and 72nd in the rankings. The team signed him to a low-cost deal, banking on his championship pedigree, despite limited playing time in Philly.
