Ceasefire Doubts, Jamie Dimon’s Warning, Kanye Backlash and more

0:00Hey there, from CNN, I'm David Rind with the five things you need to know for Monday, April 6th. President Donald Trump will give an update this afternoon on the daring weekend mission to rescue an American Air Force colonel from behind enemy lines in Iran. He surely will be asked about his apparent Tuesday night deadline for Iran to open the straight-of-war moves. Trump's profane social media post yesterday said the U.S. would bomb electrical power plants if Iran doesn't comply. Experts say that could be a war crime. This morning, we're also starting to hear the word ceasefire a little bit more. CNN's Kevin Lipteck is here. Kevin is a ceasefire possibility like how real is any of this. David, the efforts do seem like a long shot right now. The countries that have been working to end the war in Iran have drafted this proposal calling for a 45-day ceasefire and the reopening of the straight-of-war moves. It's really viewed as a last-ditch effort to stave off the massive strikes on Iranian power plants and other infrastructure that Trump says are coming if the straight-of-war remains blocked.

1:00A White House official said the president had not signed off on the proposal. They say it's one of many ideas. The hope here is that the 45-day ceasefire window would allow for negotiations to permanently end the conflict, but already Iran seemed to reject any temporary ceasefire saying it would allow its adversaries to pause and prepare for the continuation of the war. The Iranian Embassy in India responded to Trump on X, posting, quote, Researchers wearing and throwing insults are how soared loser brats behave. Get a grip on yourself, old man. Alright, coming up, you never want a skunk at a party, especially when the party is the global economy. Stick around. Jamie Diamond is warning the US is rarely war with Iran could slow US economic growth. The JP Morgan Chase CEO says the conflict could lead to another round of inflation and higher interest rates. He said this could all result in a recession for the U.S. economy and a reshaping of the global economic order. Diamond called the incremental rise of inflation and interest rates the quote, skunk at the party,

2:04and warned it could drag down stocks this year. That's a lot of warnings, but he's not fully sounding the alarm. In an annual letter to shareholders, Diamond says the U.S. economy is sturdier now than in years past. Here's what he told Foxes Brian Killmeade last week. You still have jobs, you still have huge capital expenditures, you still have tax benefits coming to families. So right now it looks pretty good, but the most important factors, you know, we have huge deficits, we have these geopolitical events, you know, how long this war goes on, those things can easily change the economy. President Trump says he's supporting Republican Steve Hilton in the crowded California governor's race to replace Governor Gavin Newsom. Hilton's campaign thanked the president. Hilton is a British immigrant whose resume includes working at a strategist in UK politics, Santa Fox News host. The California primaries June 2nd, and this is a jungle primary, which means the top two vote getters regardless of party move on to the general in November. The Democratic field is super crowded, so Democratic strategists worry that if a few folks don't drop out, that could pave the way for both Republican candidates to advance and guarantee a Republican

3:08governor's mansion and an otherwise Democratic stronghold. CNN announced this morning they'll be hosting a primary debate on May 5th. He may have noticed that Kanye West, now known as Yeh, has been trying to reset his career and rehab his image. He's faced tons of backlash over flat-out anti-Semitic and hateful incidents. Among other things, he released a song called Hiel Hitler and sold a t-shirt with a giant swastika on it. Yeh had previously said he had bipolar disorder before saying last year that he had been misdiagnosed and instead has autism. In January, he took out a full-page advertisement in the Wall Street Journal to apologize for his actions. He essentially released a new album and even played a big show in Los Angeles, and as part of that re-emergence, Yeh was also booked as the headliner of the 2026 wireless festival in the UK, but not everyone is thrilled about that. Pepsi announced today it was withdrawing its sponsorship of the festival. Major drink brand Diagio is also pulling out. UK Prime Minister Kier Starmer has spoken out against the booking amid an uptick of anti-Semitic incidents in Britain. CNN has reached out to wireless festival and other partners for comment.

I received so many letters, so much kindness to me and my whole family and we feel it. Officials say the Nancy Guthrie case is still active.
