0:00Hey there, from CNN, I'm David Rind with the five things you need to know for Wednesday, April 8th. Operation Epic Fury was a historic and overwhelming victory on the battlefield. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth this morning framed the ceasefire with Iran as the culmination of a complete military success. But many questions remain. One is, what happens to enrich nuclear material still in Iran's possession? The US insists Iran gives it all up, although Iran has not mentioned whether it has agreed to that term. Hegseth insisted one way or another, any nuclear material Iran quote should not have will be removed. They'll give it to us voluntarily. We'll get it. We'll take it. We'll take it out. Or if we have to do something else ourselves, like we did in Midnight Hammer or something like that, we reserve that opportunity. Midnight Hammer, of course, referring to the US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June. There's also the critical issue of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's major point of leverage. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Kane indicated that the waterway was open,

1:02while marine tracking data showed at least two tankers had passed through the strait this morning, as Iran has said its military will coordinate all passage through the waterway during the ceasefire. Experts say it will take much longer than two weeks to clear the backlog of ships. Alright, coming up, despite the ceasefire, bombs are still falling in the Middle East. Let's not forget about what's been going on in Lebanon. This was referred to as a war within a war. For weeks, Israel has been bombarding Hezbollah targets in Beirut and smaller villages across the Israel-Lebanon border. CNN's not a Bashir is in Lebanon for us, not a, does the ceasefire apply to this part of the conflict? Well, David, it's very clear that the ceasefire has not extended to Lebanon, and we've seen that first hand here in Beirut, a series of powerful air strikes carried out across the city. Including in areas that weren't under evacuation orders and parts of central Beirut, that would have been very busy and populated at the time, and while the Israeli military

2:03has said it was targeting Hezbollah targets both in the capital and across the country, we've been on the ground to see the aftermath of some of these air strikes, and needs have occurred in residential areas filled with apartment blocks, shops, bakeries, and cafes. These are areas that would have been very busy at the time, and now we're hearing from the Lebanese health ministry saying they believe hundreds have been killed or wounded as a result. Elsewhere in the region, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the American journalist Shelley Kiddelsen has been released by a pro-Aran militia in Iraq. A senior Iraqi government official told CNN the Iraqi government is processing her travel arrangements. CNN has obtained two dashcam videos from a shooting involving immigration and customs enforcement agents in central California. The agency says it's agents shot a man while attempting to arrest him during a targeted traffic stop just outside of Sacramento yesterday. He was then taken to a hospital. Officials claim officers fired defensive shots after he attempted to run over one of the agents.

3:04DHS identified the man as Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez, an undocumented immigrant and alleged gang member who was, quote, wanted an El Salvador for questioning and connection to a murder. The Associated Press reported that Mendoza Hernandez's attorney has disputed DHS's account and said the agents may have mistaken his client for someone with a similar name. He added Mendoza Hernandez's family wasn't able to immediately see him in the hospital but told he was stable. CNN has reached out to the attorney for comment. We're learning more details about the two men accused of trying to detonate makeshift bombs during protests outside of New York City, Marys, or on mom Donnie's home last month. They detailed in a notebook and through audio recordings how they hoped their ISIS inspired attack would kill dozens of people, according to an indictment released yesterday. Federal prosecutors have charged 18-year-old Amir Balot and 19-year-old Ibrahim K. Umi with eight crimes, including providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization and conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction for the attack.

4:05The indictment says Dashcam video captured K. Umi telling Balot, quote, all I know is I want to start terror, bro. The indictment also states Balot predicted they were, quote, going to kill about 8-16 people and possibly as many to 30-60 people if the area was crowded. Judge Chris Taylor has won a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, expanding the court's liberal majority to 5-2. Justice-elect Taylor heavily outfun raised her conservative opponent, Maria Lazar, and focused her campaign advertising on abortion rights. The race is technically nonpartisan, but it's seen as another boost for Democrats heading into the midterms.
