Hurricane Marie stayed hundreds of miles offshore but still sent dangerous surf, rip currents and coastal flooding into Southern California over Labor Day weekend. Seal Beach closed beachfront parking lots after ocean water inundated the area, while waves reached roughly 6 to 10 feet at some south-facing beaches and lifeguards warned swimmers to stay cautious.
