2:02we'll handicap the one line we have available for the Elite 8 matchup on Saturday between the OSE two lines up, Iowa and Illinois, and then Purdue and Arizona advancing to the Elite 8. After the results from yesterday, we'll try to keep this one nice and tight for you guys so you guys can consume it in and hopefully we're able to find some winners for you here on this pod as well. But joining me, of course, on this episode as always, gracious enough with his time. It's Uncle Diamond Dave. Esla, Uncle Dave, how's it going, sir? Doing great. Cashed my best bet last night. So I'm always excited when that happens. And I was pre-games dollar caper last night. And we had your Texas Longhorns. I know you're Houston Cougars. And they almost went out right.

3:04So I was happy on two fronts. Everybody wants to buy the dollar play. It's a dollar, right? I mean, yep. And everybody and their brother seem to love Purdue. And I did not. I mean, I wasn't even worried when the line went from seven all the way to eight and a half. It's like, no, I'm confident in my work. And sure enough, it was a relatively easy winner, which is, it's always nice to win that dollar polinkers. You have so many people falling, you and maybe you can build on that momentum for Friday. Let's hope, anyway. Yeah, that's the appetizer that we always talk about to getting on a full season best bet package for Uncle Dave there. So yeah, good congratulations on that. When he had commission was relatively easy for Texas, at least to stay within the number and almost, almost when the game opportunities were there for sure for the long horns. Yes, but Purdue does get the job done. And they'll be taking on the number one C Arizona on Saturday.

4:04We'll get to that game later on in this podcast. I guess a house keeping thing, Uncle Dave, and I think this is completely my fault. Yesterday, we recorded a pod, you know, sent it over to sleepy to get it, you know, edit it and post it up. But for me, I dropped the ball there and didn't communicate to him that I had sent over the file. So he didn't get to it till much later. And I know our best bets were early or later in the afternoon issue. But yeah, that's completely my fault about that yesterday. So we'll all make sure I'll get that correct and make sure I continue communicating with sleepy. But Uncle Dave did carry me yesterday because he did have the first five under in the Orioles and the twins game there that did get to the window. And I had the Padres Uncle Dave. And boy, they just laid an egg within those first couple of endings there. And I thought Tark School would struggle a little bit. But he, you know, he looked pretty good and then they were

5:08able to cruise to the victory. I think the one thing, if you are a Tigers fan Uncle Dave that you are excited about, I know, again, it's only one game we always overreact, you know, NFL week one. And we'll look back. But the offense at least looked pretty good for the Tigers in game one there. So apologies about that again. If you guys got to that later, that's my fault completely. But I'll make sure to correct that going forward on our pod here. Uncle Dave, let's not waste any time. Let's get into the baseball action. We'll save the elite eight matchups for later on this episode. But let's start here with the Sacramento A's Las Vegas A's. However, you want to dice it up now for this team. We're going to be in Toronto. They're going to take on the blue J's here here on the Friday car. We got Louis Severino on the mound here for the A's. And I'll be Kevin Gossman for the blue J's. Blue J's are right now around a minus 181 home favorite plus 149 on the money line for the A's. Again, odds, courtesy of draft Kings total in this game. Uncle Dave's

6:10sitting at eight and a half, where he talks about the A's in the blue J's here. Yeah, I mean, every time I see Kevin Gossman on the rotation, you know, I remember when he was in auto fade when he was with Baltimore. And I guess I still, I still remember that guy. So I look for spots to fade him, which has cost me money over the years. I'll be honest. So last year in April, he went one in three with a 4.82 ERA. I know it's not quite April, but early season. You know, is that enough or is that grasping at straws? You know, I tend to think sometimes that's grasping at straws. You know, people will make numbers say what they want. You know, it's the fact that some of the A's have had some success against him more than I would have thought. You know, does that make me towards the A's? I don't know. We know San Reino has an upside, right? Last year, he only allowed like 16 home runs. It's kind of surprising given that he pitched half his games in Sacramento, where, you know, it was always 102 degrees, and the one was always blowing out. I mean, I mean, like there's like totals and chords field there for a while. And Toronto hasn't done a lot over over the years. So I say that to say

7:14one thing that government is not worth minus 180 given his variance possibilities. And it's also rare for me to take a home team on the run line and why is that Dave? Well, if they're up one, they don't batten a lot of the nights, which takes a load. So it takes a load of facility or opportunities out of the equation. I mean, some people have no problem with that, but I do. I guess, you know, the first thing you have to do with a J's home game is check the weather, right? Boss fly out of there when the roof is open, but it's not going to be open tonight. Yeah, it's still winter in Toronto as far as the temperature is concerned. And I think the value lies here in the total. It's eight and a half juiced over. And I could find a nine. A decade under nine, flat at minus 129. I think I'd make that bet as opposed to under nine and a half, which obviously is much better, but it's also much more expensive. It's minus 157. And for future reference, also, when I bet it over nine, I'm not doing that here. What I'm looking for is both teams to score four, making it a push at worst. And similarly,

8:15if you're betting over seven, you know, it requires both teams to score three for a push at worst. So I don't like doing it if I think one team isn't going to score many. Any, anyhow, under nine, minus 129, I think is the best bet in this game. I'll be looking for Jason Jacob Wilson hit prop. He ended up Brent Rucker, who have both had some success against Gosford in the past. So that's where I stand on North of the border tonight, my friend. Yeah, the Erkiff and Gossman has struggled or did struggle last season. I should say, until they won't get intense this A's team. He pitched a total of nine and two thirds innings. He allowed, let's see, here's six earned runs, 13 hits in those two matchups. And again, it's a very small sample. But, you know, I think we both like the over on this A's team for the regular season win total for this season. And I think they are a sneaky dog here. Severino, if you look at his splits last year, Uncle Dave, I mean, he was very, very good on the road compared to what was supposed to be in West Sacramento, a hitter friendly ballpark, right?

9:21And he did struggle because if you just bet the over and Severino home starts last year, I think you were very, very profitable, better. But it was a completely different, uh, different scenario for him when he pitched on the road. I mean, he was very, very good. And let's not forget, right? He is somewhat familiar with the Toronto Blue Jays and the confines of Roger's stadium, if they're still calling it that these days. Yes, it was a couple of seasons ago. And obviously, you know, lineups and things like that changed there. But I think he go on very well here. He had two good starts in the season last year. I think that he can, you know, build off of the spring training. Um, I think the A's are sneaky here. I like them on the plus odds here. I like you mentioned, I don't think Kevin Galsman is, is warranted to be north of a minus 165 favorite here. Um, and I'll be curious to see how this, you know, lineup responds, you know, with no bobe, but shit there anymore. Of course, there as well. So, I like your play on the under nine, but also I'll, I'll take the A's here, uh, plus 149 right now, currently over on draft Kings. If you want to play the run line plus one and a half,

10:23minus 136 is a little bit juiced there for the road team, uh, uncle Dave, but I'll take the A's here in this spot. I think they can be a sneaky dog here, uh, to start the Friday card in the MLB. We'll keep it rolling here. Let's get over to, uh, probably the pitching matchup of the night, the Kansas City Royals. They're going to be in Atlanta to take on the Braves. Uh, Cole Ragan's in them start here for the Royals. Chris Sale can start here for the Atlanta Braves. Braves are in minus 143 home favorite plus 119 on the money line. For the Royals, totally in this game, Uncle Dave said that seven and a half. We thoughts on Royals and Braves. Yeah, I mean, it's not easy to bet against Chris Sale, right? I mean, the auto bet is to Braves, but I mean, I was trying to find a way to not do that. And, you know, maybe it's because the RAWs have seen plenty of them over the years. You know, we've been Boston for a long time, but if you look at collectively a 94 out of bass, 68 of them are by Salvador Perez and they've got 23 hits in those 94 out of bass, 18 of them by Perez. And one home run of those 94 out of bass by Perez.

11:27So, you know, maybe you could take a Perez, Perez hit prop along the way there. Um, but it's hard to think that the Royals will get many early. Uh, but then again, you know, the Royals are in a much better team than they've been in a decade. Uh, but I wonder what I will say is if you're going to get to Sale, it's typically early in the season. Uh, in the last year, a lot of three going more earned runs in all of his first four starts. Now, Reagan isn't the opening day started for no reason. Uh, Atlanta has seen some of them, but, you know, if you take away Austin Riley's two home runs, and there's only two, there's only at bad against Reagan's, uh, they scored zero runs and struck out one and three at a fast. So, to me, the fact that the Braves are kind of only quote unquote 140-ish, uh, with a salient picture kind of tells me all I need to know. They're begging for Braves money, and I'm not going to give it to them. Uh, and since I don't know about their bullpen yet, and the game total sitting at seven, um, I would be, uh, I would be more than fine with Cole Reagan to split a first five run line and a full game run line. I mean, there's part of

12:28me that thinks at this point, Kansas City might be the better team. I mean, that may sound outlandish, but, you know, let's see, let's see what happens this summer. But, you know, I've been high on the roads all, all preseason here. Uh, I'm not going to back down now. And, you know, if I'm wrong and, and, and no sales throws to it, shut up. Great. Uh, but I think that the value lies on, on, on, Kansas City. Yeah, I know, Chris sale, um, since he, you know, joined the Braves, especially in his home starts, um, had been really, really good, right? The Braves are eights and five straight up in those spots. Fourteen and nine against the run line. Sixteen and seven towards under. Um, so I do think this is a game on what we do. I think a pitcher's duel here. I do see a seven and a half right now over on draft kings between these two pitchers. Um, I think Chris sale can go along well. Of course, you're very familiar with him with all this time, you know, with the red socks. Um, and I think this could be a year where Cole Reagan's, um, obviously, can be in the conversation for

13:34side young. And I think we'll be in that conversation for side young, um, you know, things get a little dicey when we talk about some of these first starts for a lot of these, you know, star pitchers or, you know, side young caliber pitchers, you know, I messaged you yesterday, they wins the next time we're going to see Paul skeens only last two and a third inning, um, for the rest of his career, right? Because he, I got absolutely sheld in his first start there by the meds. But, um, yeah, I've been at Chris sale fan. I think that again, if you are going to back the braves here, um, I think it is on the money line here, but I think my more favorite play is going to be on that under seven and a half. I'm thinking Runt will be at a premium in these in this game. Um, maybe if you're able to find a four in the first five innings between these two guys of five beats, you I think at worst cases could be like a two one at the end of, at the end of five innings. So, uh, under for me under seven and a half, uh, bowl game, uh, and then if you're again, they will find a four in that first five innings. I do like that under as well.

14:35Last game in the MLB will get to here. We're going to go to the northwest, the Cleveland guardians. They are in Seattle to take on the manners Gavin Williams. Get in the start here for those guardians. They'll be George Kirby for the Mariners. Banners are a minus 175 home favorite plus 144 on the money line for the guardians. Total sitting at seven. Uh, in this game here, Uncle Dave and I do know, uh, that obviously these two teams did play yesterday. And that was, uh, I believe a victory for the Mariners because it was in the late start. Uh, no, sorry, the guardians won that game six to four, uh, last night. So here we are game two Mariners looking for some revenge where he thoughts on this matchup. Yeah, I mean, I would have been in my off base and I put money on Seattle last night or the under. And, uh, I forget what I said, because I thought we talked about them yesterday, but, you know, I think people will look at this game and they'll kind of expect both teams to remain hard at the plate, which might be time to go the other way. I mean, Gavin Williams is a strikeout

15:36pitcher extraordinaire, really. But, you know, he'll block people and he did give up 23 homeers last year. Um, then again, this is a pitchers park. And I think if Seattle's going to do damage, it's going to have to be with the lawn ball because, um, they, you know, Williams just doesn't give up hits and punches. And Cleveland has had some success against Kirby, but I think both both things being used. I think they both used four arms. Um, I'm inclined to look at something in the first five innings here, um, just by default, really, um, you know, Kirby comes in and in a terrible postseason. Um, I'm inclined to take the guardians run line in the first five innings. I would also look at the first five innings under. And I know Cleveland kind of went off at the plank. They scored, uh, six runs on 12 hits, uh, enough for them left to park. Uh, but there are two, three, four hitters and zero hits. Uh, we would expect that to perhaps change a little bit. So I kind of like Cleveland earlier on the run line, especially where it's, it's a reasonably priced bad. I mean, uh, I think people are, people are going to expect, uh, um, time out, uh,

16:43compute and just do something stupid. Um, I think, I think people are going to expect to see I'll just kind of wake up and win, you know, um, probably last year, I think we'll lose two in a row, but, you know, that's not how this goes. Um, you know, in baseball, it's, it's streaky. And, uh, the market is generally way behind. Uh, let me put it this way. There's certainly not, not worth a minus 180, uh, money line bet. So that's when you got to start looking at derivatives. I mean, I wouldn't even use them in a money line parlay. I mean, you got, you got Gavin Williams at plus one, whatever, 40, 50, whatever the splits are. Um, that would definitely be where the value is, but because, uh, that, that money line is so high, I think we can get a, get a first five bet or even a full game bet, um, on the guardians run line. And that is without a doubt what I would do here and off. Yeah, I'm not sure how long Kirby's going to be out there because there was, um, a lot of times last season where he was only going about five eighties. And that seems

17:45like that was what his ceiling was, uh, for this Mariners team. And I know, um, I believe it did get off to a little bit of a late start last season. Yeah, his first start last year was until about May 22nd. So, um, you know, I, I think they want to quote, unquote, protect it. Maybe have them on a pitch counter any kind of something like that. But historically, Gavin Williams has actually been pretty good. I mean, historically, he did have two starts last season against his Mariners team. One each at home and one on the road. Um, and he was good in those spots. He'll now three earn runs over 11 innings, uh, in those games there. And now you mentioned that the strikeout numbers, maybe are not there for guy like Gavin Williams, but he did have a game last year where he did have eight strikeouts. Or I say he is a strikeout pitcher, but, um, I, I think the guardians are sneaky again in this game. I like that plus price. I'm not willing to lay a minus 175 price, but George Kirby because of the unknown. And I don't know what he's going to, you know, how long he's going to be out there. Number one, and how, how he's going to look. I want to see

18:48how some of these pictures look before I do back them, because I think early in the season, Uncle Dave, I think there's some great value on these plus money dogs here, uh, to start the year there. So, um, yeah, I'll take the guardians in this game here, plus one 44, uh, between the mariners and guardians in game two of this series. And I should preface this, Uncle Dave and I, and I mentioned this a lot is that, and I think we mentioned this yesterday is that with early, early in the season, I'm, I'm, I'm really, really money managing it and pulling my unit size significantly down. Uh, it's not a full unit bet, uh, on these, on these baseball games, because you're early in the season, right? Because I'm still trying to gather dead. I'm still trying to see, you know, how open usages and what, you know, the tendencies are for some of these managers, there. Um, so, you know, we're, and the handicapped in this game, so when I'm giving you guys, you know, again, I don't want to say take it with a grain of salt, but it's just, I could think, the thing to say is that money managed it because it's a very, very long season. And we're still trying to figure out, you know, these teams, um, as they, you know, play meaningful regular season

So that'll be the third game that we handicap here, uh, for the MLB card again, a very lighter schedule here on Friday, uh, because, you know, again, we had a lot of the games in game one starting on Thursday, uh, yesterday for, uh, the MLB season. All right. So we'll put a pin in that for the MLB card. Uh, let's move it here to the two elite eight games that we do have lines for on Saturday. Uh, of course, we have the four more sweet 16 games here tonight. If you weren't able to listen to the handicaps of those games, there's still time to go back and listen to it because it's a little bit so evergreen. Excuse me, because we did cover that earlier in the week with Uncle Dave, uh, but we'll get into the two elite eight matchups here. Uncle Dave, I do see on draft Kings. We do have lines right now for both of them. Let's start with number nine. Iowa, uh, they are looking to punch their ticket to the final four against number three seed Illinois. Illinois right now is laying six

20:57and a half points in this game with a total of one 38 and a half. And I, I was, and I might say, I'm a little biased because I was very, very impressed with what Illinois was able to do. Yes, sure. I guess it's Houston Cougars team. A team that obviously made it all the way to the national championship last year. Uh, but they, I don't want to say made easy work, but it looked like they made very easy work of the Houston Cougars yesterday, but here they are laying six and a half against nine seed Iowa. Uh, any thoughts on this matchup? Um, you know, I, you know, is Illinois the better team? Yes. Um, has Iowa really beaten anybody? Well, of course, they beat Florida. Uh, but these teams know each other. I mean, they're both in the, in the big 10, right? And, you know, you look back at Iowa lost to Illinois by six at home. Uh, it was definitely only timely played this year. It looks like it was, which is not uncommon given it's the big 16 or whatever, not the big 10. Um,

22:01but they only lost by six at home. So I guess fast forward, you know, I would look at, you know, okay, what kind of teams beat Illinois? Uh, not many. Um, but you look at, at Connecticut, who plays kind of slow and rugged and you look at at Wisconsin, who plays kind of slow and rugged. And, you know, that's kind of what you're going to get out of Iowa. You know, I mean, Iowa is going to try to slow everything down. Um, and teams that beat Iowa are teams that, that, that, of similar style and, you know, Illinois is not, uh, a similar style. I, I guess I say I like to say, you know, part of me doesn't really know, but I think that because they know each other so well, year after year, I would be inclined to take the points. I mean, you know, that it's, it's a big number because of what Illinois did to Houston, right? I mean, and, and, you know, they, they,

23:01they, they didn't, you know, they throttle VCU, but, you know, VCU, there we go. We'll go from a smaller conference. Um, you know, I'm, I'm, I'm not, uh, I'm not a fan of length points against a familiar foe. It's kind of like, you know, division games in the NFL, you know, they, they tend to be lower scoring. So having said that, I would like the under in this game, but having said that if it is a close game, I don't want to piss it away in the last 30 seconds. So I would look at a first half under, uh, and I would look at, I would look at Iowa plus seven. I think that's, you know, I mean, could you let us blow them out to 100 percent? Will they, I doubt it. Yeah, I think that as we get, you know, like you mentioned, two teams that are familiar with each other, you know, playing in the same conference in the big 10. I feel like, you know, those games will tend to be closer here. And, you know, uh, as much as I think there could be an overreaction with what Illinois was able to do against Houston Cougars based on

24:02recent sea buys, but she also mentioned that Iowa did did beat Florida there as well, right? Um, but that may be an afterthought now, uh, you know, for this Iowa team. So I think this one does also come down to the wire. I think Illinois wins the game, uh, but I don't think it'll be by margin. I think this will be a fun one to watch for sure. Uh, but I'll be with you on taking the point with Iowa. Uh, second game. The elite eight tomorrow 849 eastern start time projected number one seed Arizona. They are taking on the two seed Purdue right now. Also, the Wildcats are a six and a half point, uh, favorite here in this game with a total of 151 and a half year Uncle Dave, where your thoughts on Purdue and Arizona? Yeah, I mean, I like Arizona to crush Purdue if I'm being honest, which I'm never not. I mean, you know, I had a large bet on Texas last night. I almost didn't need the touchdown. And okay, Purdue beat Queens. They were down at the half to Miami. Uh, and in that game, if, uh, Purdue didn't make 11 more free throws than Miami, tanks, they might not have beaten the Canes. And that was a lot of my handicap last night. And,

25:07of course, then they were scared to death by Texas. I'm playing team last night and now they get an Arizona thing that I'm 109 on Arkansas. I mean, Arizona, they like to play fast. Okay, and Purdue, they got to be at least mentally tired. I mean, you know, mentally tired from, from last night's game, uh, mentally tired from, from playing on 48 hours rest. And, you know, it's also kind of a matchup issue for, for all the scoring Arizona does. They get the third rank defense in college basketball. They got a huge length advantage. I mean, 48 hours later, I don't see it. It's a wildcat team. They've already beaten two teams in this tournament that are better than, uh, both Miami or Texas teams that Purdue has beaten. So, you know, I'm not going to look at gift for us in the mouth. You know, the underdog did very well early in this tournament. But I don't think that's going to last forever. My, my bracket and my money are all on Tommy blood this week. I like, I like Arizona to get her done tomorrow. Yeah, Arizona made easy work of, uh, Arkansas scoring 109 points last night. They won the game by

26:1221, uh, against the Arizona, uh, their last night. So, um, you know, I think, I, I think I'm with you. This wildcat's team, especially in this tournament thus far has been very, very impressive. I think that just continues here, uh, for them against, uh, Purdue here. So I'd like to hear with Arizona as well. I kind of like their team total to go rest well. They've just been so good offensively. Um, has been Arizona there. So, uh, all right. So those are two matchups that we know are confirmed for the elite, eight. Well, of course, we'll wait for the results on what transpires on Friday night for the four matchups that we do have and find out which, uh, four teams, uh, from those regions will be advancing to the elite eight and then look at the punch their tickets to the final four there. I, I think this number is a complete overreaction to not only both teams played up tempo, but Alabama missing Holloway. I mean, Alabama's had two games to figure that out and I kind of love the fact that Alabama has taken some sharp money today. I mean, you know, they were 9 or 10, and now it's down to a eight and a half, uh, because they're not likely to just outscore Michigan. I mean, if it's 100 to 101, uh, Michigan will win. They'd only done that once, since playing Penn State on January 2nd until this tournament, obviously, but I mentioned why they did in that tournament was their opposition. All right, uh, Uncle Dave, for my best, but we've got a lot of big spreads here in the association, uh, here tonight, but I'm just going to stick with my theme of fading bad defenses teams that just don't care. And you know, a team that I think often has, or not often, but is right now flying under the radar. Um, and that's the LA Clippers. They're going up against the Pacers here tonight. Um, there's something to be said that Kauai has looked really, really good for this, um, Clippers team thus far. And I think, you know, with all the stuff that happened at the beginning of the season, all the, the plant company, whoever the case might have been, but they've, they've turned around this season. Uh, they got up to a terrible start and obviously with a trade of James Hardin and bringing in Darius Garland, who's looked really, really good next to, Kauai Leonard. Uh, I think they get the job done here tonight. Um, I'm going to lay the points

31:30with them minus eight and a half against the Indiana Pacers. Uh, again, Pacer, a team that didn't have a lot of expectations this season, of course, based on the injury with Tyrese Halliburton. And the results have showed, um, but this Clippers team is completely opposite, right? They're fighting for positioning, whether it's in the play internament or trying to get out of that play internament bracket. Um, and I think they've really found their stride here now with, um, the players that they have on this roster. There was a lot of moving pieces at the beginning of the year. Guys coming in, guys being injured, guys possibly getting traded, but all that's in the past down there playing some really, really good basketball right now are the LA Clippers led by their superstar player and Kauai Leonard there. So, uh, with all that being said, I'm going to lay the points here minus eight and a half, uh, with the Clippers against Indiana Pacers here tonight. I also don't hate the team total for the Clippers, but I know they play at a slower pace, uh, do the, uh, Clippers there. So, um, typically I'm looking at those team tools. I like looking at teams that are playing at a higher pace, but I do think defensively the Clippers will

32:32be able to do enough to slow this pace to seem down and they'll do enough offensively to get the job done here. So Clippers minus eight and a half for my best bet, uh, for the Friday card in the NBA. All right. I think that's going to do it here, Uncle Dave. Uh, it's been a fun week.
