Caring and Communion

0:00This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this whenever you drink it. In remembrance of me, 1 Corinthians 11, 25. Welcome to today's encouragement from our daily bread. Caring and communion was written and read by Elisa Morgan. 1 Corinthians chapter 11 verses 23 through 26. For I received from the Lord what I passed on to you. The Lord Jesus on the night He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, this is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way after supper, He took the cup saying, this cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this whenever you drink it in remembrance of me. For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.

1:05Caring and communion. When I broke my upper arm, my friend Rex surprised me by shipping a care box of frozen soups with a beautiful silver ladle. I was deeply touched and kept the ladle long after consuming the soup. My arm is healed and dear Rex has since passed away, but his gesture of love continues to express God's love for me. Every time I lift the ladle, I thank God for His love to me through my friend. In Luke chapter 22, Jesus gave us a tangible gift in the celebration of communion to help us remember His incomparable love for us. The Apostle Paul reminded the Corinthians how Jesus broke bread saying, this is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me. Then in Luke chapter 22, verse 25,

2:06Christ took the cup saying, the cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this whenever you drink it in remembrance of me. God's lavish love is remembered again and again as we take the bread and lift the cup as believers in Christ. Rex showed his love through the tangible gift of a care box, leaving a ladle to remind me month after month. Jesus loved us in the life altering gift of His body sacrificed on the cross for our sins. He left us the practice of communion to remind us of His unchanging love. Let's pray. Jesus, thank you for the tangible gifts that remind us of your unfailing love. Small gestures from friends and the sacred gift of communion itself. As we lift the bread and the cup, help us remember your sacrifice with grateful hearts and live each day
