Cardiac Screening and Return to Play Guidelines with Chris Rausch, MD (S6:E9)

About this episode

Approximately 35 to 45 million youths, 6 to 18 years of age, participate in some form of athletics. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many aspects of the lives of children and families, including youth sport activity. As children present for health supervision visits and preparticipation physical evaluations, parents and athletes likely will ask questions about how best to ensure safety when considering a return to sports participation and physical activity. In addition, there are lingering concerns about the risk of myocarditis in this population, from disease and vaccination. In this episode we will evaluate the most current guidance on this topic and discuss the risk of myocarditis, all from a cardiology perspective.
