Cade Klubnik's Fall: Jets' Fourth-Round Gamble

0:00On April 28th, Cade Klobnik was projected as the top pick for the 2025 draft, maybe even to the Jets. But he went back to Clemson for his senior year and it all fell apart. The Tigers finished 7 and 6, they're worse since 2010. Klobnik threw for about 3,000 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 6 picks in 12 games, with just 4 rushing scores. Now he's a fourth round pick for New York, and everyone's asking what tanked his game. His supporting cast wasn't much worse than before. In fact, past protection and drops improved slightly from 2024. Rushing yards per game dipped, but overall, the decline looks like his issue, not the teams. Peers like other top quarterbacks had better help in key spots, yet Klobnik stats plunged anyway. Fans and scouts are stunned, since his junior year screamed NFL star. Deep balls were his thing, 35 completions in 2024. Third in the nation.

1:00Rushing added 5.88 yards, but Clemson's rough 7 and 6 tracked his stock down big time. This year, Deep attempts dropped from 5.6 to 4.1 per game. Completion rate fell too. Play action touchdowns half to 11, and his grade tanked from top 10 to mid-pack. Rushing yards cut in half to 223, with scrambles way less explosive blame injuries late, but it started early. Jets coach has got to unlock that deep arm, sharpen play action, and revive his legs to make him a real threat. If they do, fourth round could be a steal, otherwise he's back up material at best.
